Well, browsing amazon and found this:-

I thought these were banned in the UK, sure I read elsewhere on here that even ownership was illegal, nevermind stepping into public domain.

So, are they banned or not?

I'm tempted, if just for the novelty factor and nothing else. How cool is this at your BBQ!

Save your money, those aren't very good knives.  As for their legality, that's not something you would want to be caught with just about anywhere.

Glad I'm not the only one to have noticed these!

The seller is either Spainish or German,so I'm guessing you'd buy it,it'll get picked up in customs...

If these are spring loaded then don't touch them with a barge poll.  They would definitely get stopped at customs and even if it did make it through you would indeed be breaking the law owning one.

Even good auto's like Microtech and Benchmade , aren't worth the trouble .

I wouldn't use the word "good" with Microtech.  In my experience, autos are pretty unreliable and fail to deploy or close on occassion.

i'm pretty sure the answer to this question would be
IF it is a 'flick' knife it would be a banned item, BUT beware i have seen similar on my travels  :whistle: some are just 'lock backs' and the buttons are there just for show ! i.e no spring loading.
as to the quality i would guess not so good  :-\

I wonder how it works with customs in the UK..

Do they scan all parcels or, more likely, a sample of them?

Do they scan EU parcels too or just the ones from outside the EU, or just a larger sample of the non EU ones?

Will using a premium service (i.e. DHL) (faster delivery, less time given to customs for checks) help?

Do they go by what is written on the box? (e.g. tool instead of ninja killer knife)

Are Customs more interested in a parcel going to a higher crime area?

I would guess that if you want less trouble then a small DHL parcel coming from e.g. France marked as "pencils" should make it  ???

they do seem to pick up on everything so I suspect it's more than just a random sample.  I will add in the defence of HMRC that they are simply enforcing the Law as they see it,  it's just that not everyone agrees with their interpretation. In regards to the knife in the OP, there's no interpretation involved, it's a flick knife in anyone's book. :D

You can find really goofy things for sale if you look hard enough.  Amazon Canada has a couple of push daggers on it's site (sold by Amazon, not a third party seller) even though they're illegal in Canada.  I also found one of those old crazy "Ak-47" pushbutton automatic knives in a pawn shop.

I've had good luck with the Socoms , LUDT's and Amphibians . The Scarabs's and UTX 70's were good , tho you had to be very carefull how they were lubed and cleaned . With regards to warranty , you might as well forget it .

I would like to get a 98-2000 Halo or Nemesis ( SA OTF's ) .

Tony is a bit of a Smurf off , he could make great stuff , but could also Smurf up in spades .
