I’m a big fan of the SwissChamp.  :like: :like: :like:

I may own one or two.

Not shown is an old style glass magnifier model with red scales that is in the mail. It even has the original box and receipt from 1991.

Random SwissChamp musing of the day: I'm never quite sure which tool to use as the "touch an icky gross thing" tool. Use the awl, and risk getting gross stuff stuck in the sewing eye? Use the screwdriver tip of the can opener, and risk contaminating food later on? Use the tiny awkward flathead on the backside of the fish scaler layer? Please not the toothpick.  Maybe using the tip of the fish scaler is best, since the long scaler keeps me as far away from the icky gross thing as possible.

Maybe Victorinox needs to create a new tool simple called The Probe.

Today this SwissChamp en Classic SD came in. These were official commemorative knives from the FIFA Football World Cup 1998, held in France.
Backside of the boxes have holograms with text "France Licence Officielle".

I do need to join this club as I’m now officially a SwissChamp collector.  :) ...ok, only three.  :pok:

Buzz, I have a solution. Those plier/tweezer things can hold a prodder at a good distance, keeping you away from the nastiness and keeping the SAK bacteria free! Simply dispose of prodder after use.

Very nice combo there EMZ too!  :like:

Thanks Barry, WS.
As crazy as it sounds, the SwissChamp is earning more of my respect every day. Can’t put my finger on it, maybe it has just a little bit more character than its brothers? Maybe I’m spending too much time around SAKs?

I like this idea. Maybe I start carrying some sawed off wooden barbecue skewers in an SOS pouch, just for such nasty occasions.

A new SwissChamp arrived today. Originally purchased in July of 1991. Still new in box, with receipt. The scissors are the old screw type, but with spring channel. The pliers appear to be 3mm with no crimpers or spring channel. No grooves on the corkscrew.

It didn’t stay mint for long though. It was a project SwissChamp for my vacation this summer. It got a nice set of olive drab G-10 scales, which look absolutely amazing. Sorry for the bad lighting, but it was almost dark when I finished.

The scales had a cosmetic imperfection when they arrived, and I wasn’t too big on the highly textured surface either. So I took some sandpaper to them and pretty much eliminated the texture entirely. IMHO, the polishing process greatly improved the color of the G-10. I’m ecstatic with how it came out. It has a very retro WW2 sort of vibe to it now. The surface reminds me a green US Army whistle, if you’ve ever seen one.

I hereby dub this the SwissTank.

Nice Buzz, and the olive G10 scales give it great retro appeal.  :like:  thanks also for the detailing on the tools for chronology.
