My favorite eras are ´88-´90 (thicker pliers, no hook) and ´99-´05 (latest pliers with crimper, bottle opener with locking nub, but old mag and thick main blade).

My other Champ is the first model, with the thinner pliers, grooved corkscrew, scissors with a screw, and no hook.  Gonna keep my eyes open for other variants now......
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

SwissChamp with SOS kit and sheath made for Muslim countries with restrictions against the Christian cross symbol.

I´ve got some others too.

Not shown are two Champs with broken parts.

So I now have a Swisschamp after a long research of what Vic to buy. I'm mainly a pliers MT person, (Wave, Core, Swisstool) but wanted a more classic SAK to round out my collection. I essentially wanted a SAK with everything I could get (and not cost a fortune).

After some use and carry, there's only one word that I can use to describe my Swisschamp: Useful!

I wasn't sure I'd carry one as the Explorer is a pocket hog but I do love my Swisschamp as well.  I carry mine in a SOS/Survival Sheath and it rides so comfortable I forget its there.  I changed out the SOS/Survival pouch items and carry mostly 1st aid stuff instead.  Great tool set on this big guy without really being a pain to carry IMO.

I joined the club tonight with two NIB black SwissChamps on the way. Both have the older grey magnifier. I got them for a great price together so I couldn't pass them up.

I have 2 new Swisschamps. Would like to join club...
Had older that was beat up broken, got it replaced by warranty. I think older had better file, and better screwdriver in it. New screwdriver is so short.

I'm in! This one has been with me for the last 15 years, through university, three jobs, 5 houses, and travelled the world, as far west as California, as far east as Japan, as far south as Capetown, and as far north as  don't really do north, probably as far north as Newcastle?

I like that pouch Philby!  What model # is that?

I really don't like the typical fabric-lined leather pouches that Vic makes for larger SAKs.  That one looks like it's built more like a Zermatt-type pouch, which I really like.  Does it have a snap closure or velcro?

Thanks!  Unfortunately, I don't believe there is one available like that on my side of the pond.  I'll have to settle for a Zermatt, I suppose.

Thank you sir!  :salute:  That's pretty affordable.  Now... Can someone tell me if that has a snap or Velcro closure?  I think Velcro might break the deal for me...

This one was on the American amazon, it's a British company but shipping is free. Unfortunately it's Velcro!

Odd...  That link doesn't doesn't take me to the US Amazon site I'm familiar with, and it doesn't recognize my account.  Either way, I appreciate the effort guys , but I'm going to stick with the brass snap on the Zermatt.

This might be the one for your then, but I can't find the correct model number for it. :(

http://www.culturesteel.c...iel-victorinox-40535.html

This shop carries it under the same model number as the Velcro one. I'll update if I stumble across it.

I have a bunch of Swisschamps, but this stag beauty is my favorite by far. It also has the rarely seen toothpick and tweezers, which were not included on most stag models
