The real Holy Grail is the Swiss Champ with engraved silver handles that Victorinox did for their centennial. Only seen a few; all well out of my price range.

Well yes, but i haven't find it for sell, and i imagine (as you wrote) that it will go sky high in price.

How many of the silver engraved champs did Vic produce??
How much do they fetch??
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

Slight (large?) change of subject. The engraving pattern on this Classic is very similar to that on the Swiss Champ. No markings on the Classic, but I wonder if it was also done for the centennial. Same time frame at least.

What kind of tree rosewood comes from? Rose tree or Briar?

All true rosewoods come from the genus Dalbergia. Perhaps the best known, and most attractive, is Brazilian Rosewood (Dalbergia nigra). This is the species that produces the attractive odor when freshly cut.  Cocobolo (Dalbergia retusa) is another common Rosewood species.

Cocobolo is nice wood. Sanding dust can be harmfull, I've never worked with it.

So, it is called rosewood because it smells.
Marios, this XAVT on your avatar reminds me a double canon antiaircraft artillery, such as Breda, Bofors or Artemis. You might have seen any.
And people, now I understand my mother's in law love for silverware. I just hadn't seen the right stuff yet.  :D

I believe the primary problem with Cocobolo is allergic reaction.  I have a mild reaction so when I work with it I usually wear a N99 dust mask or respirator and wear gloves.  Some people are highly allergic: http://news.bme.com/wp-content/uploads/200607202222-pix1.jpg.  That's a reaction to Cocobolo wood jewelry. I've also heard that some previously non-allergic people have become sensitized by exposure over time.
