MultiPurpose Pocket Survival Tool
on: February 19, 2013, 08:30:48 AM
Forgot about this... thing I got last year for free. Had a similar one as a kid once, think it was a bit bigger and better constructed.

Introducing the Multipurpose Pocket Survival Tool.

  Wallet Card-Sized Tool

It actually came with an explanation as to what was what.

  Features
  • Can Opener
  • Knife Edge
  • Screwdriver
  • Ruler (Metric)
  • Cap Opener
  • 4 Position Wrench (for various size nuts & bold head)
  • Butterfly Wrench
  • Saw Blade
  • Direction Ancillary Indication
  • 2 Position Wrench
  • Lanyard Hole (key ring hole)

Had three of these but given two away.   Should give this one away too.

Managing to use this thing without hurting yourself sounds like a good survival lesson to me. Good find Xelkos  :salute:

Sometimes, all you need is a pokey, scrapey piece of metal. I think, with a little work, it could be a really useful tool. As it is, someone apparently didn't realize where your hand would be while trying to open a can with the can opener... or they LIKE digging saw teeth into their fingers.

I'd like to try it myself.
I hesitate buying the swisscard because I keep my wallet in my backpocket and, while seated I might break it. But this is metal and I could keep it in my wallet with no fear of damaging it.

I remember having one about 10-15 years ago. Got it in a xmas stocking. I remember playing with it but never actually using it.

You can pick them up on ebay for about 1GBP delivered.  It is much smaller than you think.  I had one in my wallet for ~1 year.  Never used it.
The Leatherman crunch.  One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass consumption. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

I think that tools like this and others (Utili-key, prybar, etc) have no chance with people like us. Our pockets and bags are filled to the top with much more capable and expensive multitools, from Victorinox, Leatherman and other well known companies.
But, even knowing that, we are still affected with the "IWTHOTTA" virus. Abbr. HWAV

You know its bad if I didn't buy one. I got mine as a freebie from a fellow member a while back. This is something I wouldn't carry in my wallet.

I did however dedicate precious wallet real estate to an Iain Sinclair Cardsharp for a few months, and it worked rather well for the few times I needed something sharp. Mind you, only in my non-work cloth. The Cardsharp feels a bit flimsy but did hold up to the rigors of use. It went back into my collection with no scratch, dent's, or dings after my testing period.

That's very clever.
It doesn't seem convenient though.
Take out the wallet, open the wallet, take out the card, fold the wallet, put your wallet back, fold the card, use the knife, unfold the card, take out the wallet, open the wallet, put in the card, fold the wallet, put your wallet back.
