I'm a ninny...I started to say that the first liner looked ok, but the other two looked too thick.

The brass is 1/16 inch (0.062") thick.  It feels just about right for that size of SAK.  The liner is 0.015. I actually got a rambler built with those scales, it just needs to be polished and I'll snap some pics.

The scales look great.  A brass 58 is what I am thinking to cut my teeth on sak mobbing with.  Looking forward to the pics.

Ya I like working with brass alot.  Cuts nice and its easy to shape and sand.  The big con of course is weight, but its not as noticeable on the little guys.  Full thickness 93mm SAK scales in brass though are very heavy.  Well pretty much the same weight as steel.

If my 2 yr old cooperates for bedtime, tonight I'm cutting some 58mm Ti liners and scales.  I got an order for a full Ti converted minichamp and its always fun to work on something new.

You made some transparent tritium-embedded SAK scales, PTRSAK?  :D

Imagine a layered scale with a clear layer in the middle, and a tritium vial in the middle. bet that puppy would shine!

You made some purdy brass scales Syph, very nice handwork!  :tu:
Did you use a router to round the edges, or free out of hand?

I just do them by eye.  I hold the scale against the belt sander until I like the basic shape, then go at it with sand paper to smooth it all out.

I finished up the little brass rambler.  It turned out just fine.  I couldn't get the rivets to completely disappear, but they dont look bad I think.

Very nice Rambler, you very nearly made the rivets disappear...I had to look a couple of times before I spotted them.

Very nice. I am going to try and make a start on a brass 58 of my own tomorrow.  If it turns out anywhere near as good as your I will be happy

The only part I found hard was polishing the scales after it was assembled.  I like to polish parts on their own, then assemble, but obviously since I riveted this one, I had to sand the rivets flush then polish again.  For the Ti ones I'm going to screw those together with 0-80 screws.

Ok so tonight was prototype night and I came up with something pretty wacky, but with a purpose in mind... :D

So you see that I am bascially making a 58mm version of the wenger pocketgrip! :D  Still a prototype and I need to make a clasp to hold the pliers closed but I see no reason why it cant work.  I wanted to carry a swiss keychain tool for ages to replace my leatherman P4, but I needed pliers!  So this idea was born.

Its funny, I remember thinking it would be really hard to add pliers to an 84.. but doable...  I never thought adding them to a 58 was even close to realistic, but then I remembered that doing them fixed mode was an option and I'm very pleased with the concept so far.  :D

How about attaching a bail to the rivet big enough that it can catch the pliers, and cutting a small indent on the top of the plier handle for the bail to catch?

You could always make a special liner that has small extension from it and add a clip to hold the pliers shut?
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?
