Thats too bad. I hope there is not a lot of young scouts out there who has bought it.
Update: I sent an email to the official shop for the Scouting organisation and gave them my opinion on this "knife" in no uncertain terms. I told them I believed this is a dangerous item (and why) and if they are all of this build quality the product should not just be discontinued but recalled before kids end up getting hurt. I have just had a reply thanking me for briniging it to their attention, telling me they are sending me out a free returns post label to return the item, AND that they are reviewing the item and they will get to me with their findings
Well, no doubt the sample they were originally showed before contracts were exchanged was fine, but you can't expect the Scout Organisation to be responsible for ongoing QC, hence the reason for me flagging it. It's now on their radar and hopefully they'll make the right decision - though as you mentioned mine might have been a rogue example.Just in case they send me a refund instead of a replacement tool (which would be a bad sign in itself, as I've told them I'll accept a replacement if the build quality is up to par), I'm going to see if I can get a video camera rigged up to capture just how bad this tool really is. Not sure how tht will work out as last time I tried to use the camera it produced the clip on a bizarre file type that my computer wouldn't recognise Photos wont capture the problems well enough, so hopefully I'll overcome the file issue .... somehow EDIT: I just checked the World Scouts Shops website, and the knife is not currently listed Seems they are indeed taking this seriously and doing a proper review
