Glenfiddich 1983, congrats on your fantastic lineup. I whisk I could find how to post pics, got a couple of these myself, and my interest was recently rekindled.

I also got help from my old friend of SOSAK times, Defender.

I turns out I was neither dumb nor a fool. Actually, I am running Windows7 (pardon my french) and Chrome,
and under this setup, I just did not get the box where you select the path to your attachment.

Problem solved by using Explorer. Here's proof : see pic under of this wonderful GAK II in Winter Camo garb.

Actually, the 108 is alive and well in old Europe. There remains a band of 108 dedicated fans who, like me, love the plain-jane design with only one pivot and the one-side opening.

Here in France, I know of at least two guys who went as far as re-molding custom scales for the 108's out of PU resin. I'll come back to that later. Pic shows orange scales with stayglow properties.

One of these two guys is also an able modder. He came out with a one-hand opening 108 by grafting the blade from a 111. He comes up with new versions all the time.

Thks Barry. Here is eye candy for you : two recently acquired knives. The Safari is very hard to come by these days and fetches around $50. The Hunter is still available from a reputable tobacco supplier in Britain. But it was much more fun to source a gently used one at a good price.

The new kid on the block raises two issues in the same post.

1/ do you consider the Swiss Shark as legitimate ?

2/ a few 108's were issued by Victorinox with a clip point blade. Who has one ? Can you show us pictures ? The picture below is borrowed from Sosak member Cliosguy without his permission.

Mausers are nice, I own one I paid too much for considering its condition, but what interests me are the Solos that went out the factory with a non-etched Mauser blade, so to speak. Who has one ? who has a spare one (a "spear" one) ?

  • Left to right : Mauser, Trooper, Safari, Gak 1, Solo Plus, Solo.
  • Not shown : Safari Hunter.
    • On the way in : Pathfinder.
    • Worth mentioning on the grounds that they are assembled out of Victorinox-made parts : three Adler GAKS. Much rarer than the Vic ones.

From what I heard those are the ones that came back from repairs at Vic.

Looks like they ran out of pen blades and started placing clip point blades instead.
