My first thought when I received this......oh wow, glen has another to look for. 😛

Saw a Vic kitchen knife on eBay and the serrations on this 108 are very similar to the kitchen knife.  Not the blade shape of course, but the size of the serrations.  This one came from the Ukraine if that makes a difference.

Lots of nice 108’s, the orange G10 scales changed that one from a Hunter to a rescue knife.......😜.        :cheers:

Interesting that you mention that...  I used to carry that one in the console of my Jeep for emergency seatbelt-cutting duty.  Luckily I've never had to use it.

I've never quite understood why the Hunter was ever offered without the serrated gutting blade.

Hey NutSAK, I think what you have there is a Fireman... The Safari Hunter doesn’t have serrations in its gutting blade... :cheers:

The 108mm scene is moving rapidly here in old Europe.
On Ebay Germany, and Ebay Spain, you can buy from established vendors factory reconditioned knives.
New blade with three-line stamping, new scales, be it for the GAK, or for the trooper. I bought one of each.

It means a couple of things : 1/ they still got green replacement scales   2/ they accept to perform service on issued knives, which to me was not obvious

I contacted the french Victorinox distributor, Beligné, their answer says : here in France we are out of scales, for blade and scale replacement we send them to Ibach in Switzerland, a valuation is made for the service, which may range between 5 and 15 euros, and there is a three month delay.

Odd enough, a re-conditioned knife feels nice alright, but not quite like an old NOS one. "too good to feel true"
Montblancs are black, swiss army knives are red.

Yeah.  Keep in my that my statement about the gutting blade is by someone who will always take a plain edge over serrated on a main blade.  It just makes sense for that purpose.

Not that many knives I know of with a french crest.
I feel very comfortable with the swiss cross on a swiss knife.
I feel funny edc'ing a swiss made knife with a german crest on the scales.
I feel VERY comfortable carrying an Adler, made in germany with swiss parts.

Here in France, we use the corkscrew more often than the combination saw/cap lifter  :)
You may find you never need more than your incoming Solo Plus...... a beauty.

Just to show off my EDC...... custom scales....... changes the whole thing...... I just LOVE it.
91mm's and 84's just seem like toys compared to them.
