I found a Safari Hunter nib on Ebay for $45 USD plus $14 shipping from the UK. Good deal or no?

I just recently found out about these knives and I'm intrigued. Thanks guys!

From Bonds of London? May be slightly cheaper direct from their website. I got mine there.
(Bonds of London sounds posh but I think it's just a warehouse somewhere in an industrial hellhole on the outskirts. But they sell real Victorinoxes, that's the main thing.) They used to have some cool things like Vic Astronauts; they still list them... they have none in stock.

Of course, it may be easier just to purchase through ebay.

I'm more than happy to joint his little club!

I bought my Solo out of curiosity. It was dirt cheap, but also treated like dirt.
It took a lot of work to get in in working order, but it was worth it.

I EDC it next to my Handyman.

Now that I have one, I want a few more. I'd love to have one with a saw, bottleopener combo. And that Safari sure looks nice! (MOAR MOAR MOAR).

Pathfinder is the one you should check out. Just the blade and saw + opener combo tool.

Yesterday I finally found an affordable Walther, so I can cross that one off my list now.

The Walther was however afforable for a good reason: the Walther logo is gone, only when you hold it in the light a certain way you can still see a very vague reminder that it was once there. But hey, even without the logo it still is a Walther, which is a quite rare piece and the only black scaled 108mm  :salute:

And since Walthers in good condition go over € 600 (I have only seen two or three for sale in the past years) this is probably the closest I can get to adding one to the collection!

I will post pictures when it arrived!

Here are some things that may help in searching on eBay.

Add a german and a US address to your address book in eBay; when in the eBay app you select that address as the shipping address you'll get the search results from sellers based in the selected country. US and Germany are the biggest eBay markets in number of SAK sellers. If you find an interesting deal and they don't already offer international shipping, you can ask them if they will ship it to your country. In my experience about a third of the US sellers are willing to ship international, and almost all German sellers are willing to ship international; make sure you select your own address before you make the actual purchase or else the seller will ship it to the US/German address you have in your address book.

Be creative in your search terms. Don't only search for "Victorinox" but also search on "Swiss knife". And don't only search for model names because not all sellers are aware about it. For example I once found a Modeler (quite rare model) by searching on "Victorinox Lupe" (lupe=German for magnifier), and I found my Yeoman by searching for "bsa knife" (BSA=Boy Scouts of America, the original yeoman has a BSA logo on the scales).

Needless to say my Modeler and Yeoman were very cheap, because sellers that know the model name obviously did their research and ask a lot more money for it because they found out it's rare.

Yes, but this is the only way to find the really good deals. My NIB Modeler and NIB Yeoman were both around $ 25 for this reason. If they were listed with the model name they would have probably been sold already before I found it, or the seller (knowing the model name and the rarity) would have asked a lot more money for it.

My horn Golfer and Swissflame were aquired for the same localy :dd:

But still true...

National second hand sites and flea markets haven't really brought anything so far.

Thanks for this. I've never found anything useful on eBay. Everything I buy is locally or at fleamarkets.
