I sent my Leatherman Surge to Whitby & Co last week for repair last week. The serrated blade was seized along with the blade exchanger. It has been used for the past 5 years for at work, gardening, sailing, fishing, camping & DIY. Friends and family have borrowed it on many occasions.
I recieved a parcel in the post today with a brand new replacement! I was only expecting a repair. Hopefully it will serve me for another five years!

With the replacement Surge I recieved a leaflet
'General Repair Information'. Thought some of you might be interested. (Appolgies if this has already been posted)
Minimal Clean:- - Thoroughly rinse the tool in hot water (using mild detergent, if necessary).
- Dry the tool
- Using a lubricant such as DW-40, CRC, 3-in-One or vegetable oil, re-oil the pivot areas of the tool.
Heavy-duty Cleanup:-- Use a cleaning solvent , such as paint thinner or turpentine, to remove gummy or oil-based substances. Do not use chlorine-based solutions.
- Use cottom swabs or a fine-bristled brush (such as those found in gun-cleaning kits), to get into some of the tighter areas.
RUST:-All of the components in every tool are made from 430 series stainless steel. While this is the hardest stainless available, "Stainless" does not mean rustproof. The term "corrosion-resistant" better describes the steels capabilities.
Repair:-For light rust spots on smooth surfaces, rub the area with steel wool. For areas of heavier (penetrating) rust, the components must be replaced.
