But i found one thing interessting: Could it be that back in the 90tes or 80tes, the Medium Size Victorinox where shorter than they are now? I have compare the Huntsman whit an 2 Layer whe have lying around in our bathroom (Spartan?) and its maybe a cm shorter ..
So, the Huntsman is 91 mm.  Sounds like your old “Spartan” is actually a Tourist, which has the identical tool set to the Spartan but is 84 mm long vs. the 91 mm Huntsman and Spartan.

I found that the 84mm like the Tourist carried much better than a 91mm.  And did the same thing.  Doesn't look like much difference, but it sure feels different.  I had a couple of Recruits and they were almost the perfect carry SAK.  No back tools.  Smooth and light.  I might start carrying a Bantam for a while and see how that goes.
I didn't recall posting to the Huntsman Club site, but evidently I did.  Might need to post a Huntsman photo.  Best wishes.  G
