Thoughts on Spydie's new Street Bowie as a bushcraft knife?

Hi all,

Just a question for discussion; as the subject line says...  I don't foresee myself buying one in the near future, but given the design, size, light weight, much more reasonable price than the other Perrin fixed blade they make, and the included sheath, it seems like it'd be a good, even possibly great, bushcraft blade.  I know it's meant to be a 'self-defense' blade, but still...

Any thoughts?  Discuss amongst yourselves!  :D

The Street Bowie doesn't have a @*$&)#(*$&)(#$)#@&)$*&@ scandi grind, which I count strongly in it's favour as a bushcrafting knife.

Though while VG-10 is quite a good steel, I'd still prefer a carbon steel for purely outdoors chores.

Seems it'll do fine for a general purpose knife as long as you take care to not snap the tip.

However it still has a FRN sheath, which means the shaving sharp edge you just put on will be gone as soon as you insert and draw the knife. After had enough headache with Becker FRN sheath I refuse to buy anything with glass fiber touching the edge.

Probably be OK , Perrin stuff is nice in the hand . Another nice outdoor knife from Spyderco is the Moran Collab. . They come in both an upswept , and a drop point variety .

There's a youtube video with x-ray of moran, the tang is dinky, looks almost like a dollar store steak knife. Too bad though since everything else about it is perfect, the kydex (real kydex not FRN) sheath is one of the best I've ever seen.
