Looking for some guidance related to my Bosch GKF600 240v Palm Router, basically, it recently let the white smoke out and now sparks constantly so it's unusable IMO.

It's just out of warranty and has served me well, tearing it down it looks like at least the main armature and brushes are damaged, otherwise, it looks OK so I'm considering replacement parts, but I'm looking at £50-£60 including new bearings, but I can buy a new one for £100. (Have a lot of accessories so not considering another brand/model.)

I don't really want to just chuck it out if it can potentially be repaired, but it feels like a lot vs buying a new one - what would you do?

I'd probably buy a new one & keep the old one for spares.

Same here, mine is one of those tools that I would replace Today if it died!

I also see them dropping in price a lot or on sale a lot which makes it an even easier decision for me but I also pray that they are not making them crappier than the one that I have had for a while as they are with almost everything these days? :dunno:

Thanks, I was leaning towards replacing it as it's something I use regularly.

I've pulled the trigger on a new one today, thanks for the sanity check!

Bosch? I think therein lies your problem. Better get a new one, as far as I know you can’t purchase replacement smoke for Bosch. Unlike some quality makers they just don’t care ;)
