Just saw this.  I'm in the club with a well used dremel 400XPR.  Mine was a gift from my wife 6 years ago and it came in the big carrying case along with the flexi attachment, router attachment, circle cutter? , and four boxes of bits and stuff.  I have all the cutting disc attachments and I bought the chuck for it to replace the collett system.  I have used my dremel more times than I can count.  It is just as much a necessity as any of my leatherman tools.

Another club I became eligible for. I got this cheap 220V Dremel clone and a Wolfram Engraving tool. Now I look forward using it.

I visited leroy Merlin yesterday. They have there most Dremels and many clones, from Bosch, Black n Decker and chinese. They also have genuine Dremel accessories. My clone can use them. But I am new to this. Is there any How To for the different accessories and what for they are used? Thanks a lot.

I looked at our local Leroy Merlin a few weeks ago and didn't see half the accessories they used to have for dremels.

Best bet is to look at the official dremel website for your country.

I found the international site with how to videos. I must spend time to watch them. But I was hoping for some quick answers. For example, which tip should I use to open a thumphole in the Surge's blade exchanger? Or make a nailnick on 420 steel?

After my father bought -and used until their death- an original dremel and a clone -now he owns a third,
I HAD to buy two for me. The first one broke its switch, so I put a foot switch along the cord, and leave it on the working table, using it with an extension shaft.
The second is still alive and kicking, and for it I put together a contraption to carve in straight lines (toothpick and tweezer slots, anyone?)

I inherited this when I was living in Michigan (14 years ago).  Just came across it while cleaning.



Not sure how old it is.





Someone cut off the ground lug on the cord, but I tried it & it works.  Think I'll stick with my regular Dremel for any real work though.

Dremel came out with a very smart attachment, it attaches to the collet nut on both the tool or the flex shaft, and adds a fan, this way as you are grinding/sanding/engraving, it blows all the debris off of what your working on to give you a clean view! Here check it out.. JR

Anyone know of a good source for wire brushes , I go through them quite quickly when using them to clean stuff , mainly getting rust off old tools etc.
I am thinking of just getting a bulk lot ,10+ from a Ebay seller ie made in China

yeah perhaps offbrand options will work, but the actual ones should last longer/do a better job... but how can you argue with 10:1 pricing... ie 10 cheap ones for the price of one dremel...

I finally broke the cherry on my new dremel, cutting our new folding door to size... did a great job vs cutting by hand (as I started to do it...  ) and compared to the offbrand B&Q tool I had it's day and night.

Seems it was only a concept and never went into production if I understand it correctly. Looks cool though.

was in kmart looking thru the tool section and saw this sitting alone.  I wanted one but figured with the limited use I didn't want to shell out the bucks, however this was on clearance and so were many of the bits.  ive used it already and wow this little guy is awesome.  I know its not variable speed or one of the higher end units but I like it and it should serve me well.

That is so very cool  From what it says there it was a homework on a technology subject. They desing it for the dremel because its one of the most popular rotary tools. But yes seems to be just a concept or at least they didnt made any more updates to it. But.... one could try to follow that concept and see what happens...
