All this talk of scissors has me thinking...

Can wingman scissors take the place of the saw?

(Only thinking out loud, Breezy - don't worry!)

  Surge scissors are better!

Yeah, but by all accounts they don't fit.

Don't have a wingman, so I don't know about the quality of that scissors, but I'd say Vic scissors would fit perfectly, there. Probably need to drill out the pivot hole, but I don't think there's more than that to it.

I'm not sure if anyone has tried it with Wingman scissors, but I'm guessing they would fit, just from eyeballing it.  The pivot hole might need to be reground, but that wouldn't be too tough.

I know Metro has added external scissors to a Wave/Charge multiple times.  He has used scissors from a Gerber Flik as well as Vic scissors; I'm not sure if he has tried others.

It's here!

It arrived this afternoon, and I love it.

I realised that I have, in my default setup, a 00,0,1,2 and 3 phillips driver. Just perfect for a computer tech :)

Thanks Breezy!

Awesome, very glad to hear that it made the journey safely, and even better to hear that you're happy with the finished product.  :tu:  here's hoping it provides you with many years of good use.

Yes! They do fit. I saw them in a mod once.

I think all you needed to do was widen the pivot hole a bit an slowly regrind the locking face for the liner lock.

I've said it before but I loath the wingman/sidekick so much that no part of any of those tools would end up in one of my mods :)

I don't like them so much that I don't even give them as gifts!!

Imma put Wingman scissors (AND the box opener if it'll fit) in my Wave & post pix in ALL your threads, just to spite you  ;)

Well, I'm calling this the TTXi... If I add scissors it'll need an S in there...

So will it be the TTXSi or the XTiTS?

When putting the head back in the Rebar, I got one side in fairly easily but the other side was a complete nightmare. I eventually did it using a 1/4 hex bit as a spacer to allow my mole grips something to clamp on to to squeeze it all together enough to put the pivots in.

I really suffered from only having one set of mole grips, if I was doing it again I'd scrounge another couple of sets. As was I did it with them, a Squirt, the Rave I'd just put together and some water pump pliers. Doable but not ideal.

I decided to do a little more customising today: not the tidiest job in the world, but not the worst. The ends were left on purpose.

I like the blue colour after spending a bit of time with it - I might try to make the whole thing blue....

I hope you took the scales off first or you might ruin the temper on the tools.

Yep :)

Another photo - slightly better - shows off the rainbow effect I was hoping for- I heated it to "gold" in the center, trying to phase it back to normal Ti grey at the screws.

I've been partially successful - it's a bit clumsy, but I kinda like it. It's "ugly puppy" syndrome :)

Is there any way to have a Rebar head with the Charge bodies AND the scissors without any modifications? With out the scissors I'm lost. Without the Rebar head and replaceable wire cutters I have no interest in the Charge. Dilemma.

the key is "without any modifications".  the pic below shows the scissors on my ReCharge (top) compared to the stock scissors on a Charge TTi.

(Image removed from quote.)

as you can see, there was some grinding to be done (I used a dremel), but I'd rather sacrifice a bit of length on the scissors than potentially compromise the structural integrity of the Rebar plier head.  the other option is to leave the scissors as-is, and have a slight gap in the handles (the tool won't close all the way).
is there the chance to use instead of scissors the Rebar awl in the Charge?

Yes metro has done it.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Yes metro has done it.

I have 2 different awls I've been meaning to try to fit in the ReCharge -- one from a Rebar, the other from a Core.  maybe this weekend if I find some time.

if I remember correctly, they both require some grinding to fit properly, but Metro would certainly know best.

An other option would the SOG awl which is sold as accessory and looks shorter and thinner,  I do not have the exact specs though.

You could also grind down the flat driver to an awl. I did it on my Charge, not the prettiest job, but it really works

Sure I could, but the flat screw drive is really handy for me so I need it. The best combination 4 me would be to replace scissors with awl.  :-\
