Hammer with screwdrivers
on: March 20, 2013, 11:34:06 PM
A year or so ago I was given this hammer.

It is fairly light and could stand to have more mass. When you unscrew the handle though you get a surprise

A fairly large flat head driver. And then out of that comes another surprise.
A philips driver. And then there are more russian doll like screwdrivers that keep coming out.

And soon you have a nice big family of screw drivers. This hammer is not ideal for workshop use, but I think it is good for camping as you get almost full size drivers and a hammer for tent stakes. The smallest driver (a philips) is also a good size for electronics, fishing reels, and other things you might have camping.

I've seen a couple of those here but never painted this way. I think it was made by a company beginning with G or C. Let me work my google-fu a bit.

It is actually not painted but has something over it that looks like a heat shrink coating.

My mum's had one of those for as long as I can remember, it lives in a drawer in the kitchen waiting to be useful. The hammer's got a pointy side rather than the claw though.

It comes in handy quite a bit.

I've often seen these near the register at the hardware store, they're a pretty cool idea. I've only ever found them with a pastel paint/vinyl/whatever coating on them though, I'll have to keep an eye out for a plain one.

My folks also have one, it was made of brass.  It has to be pushing 60 years old now.  Too funny!

the hammer head might be brass - it's that sort of colour and fairly badly dinged up.
