Fenix LD22
on: March 29, 2013, 10:05:10 PM
I have just taken delivery of a Fenix LD22 and I find its shape....awkward. The clip is obtrusive and mounted too-central; the holster has the same problem: making it difficult to belt-mount.

In terms of the output it is clear and uncluttered and compares favourably with several LED lensers with which I compared it: MT-7, P7, P3, P2, V2.

The side-switch is fine for the less used levels or modes, and I like that it remembers the last setting.

There doesn't appear to be much difference between low and mid settings though some have pointed out this may be due to the input battery voltage of Duracell style batteries.

On reflection I think I would prefer a single AA for everyday carry, but I like the increased length for poking around inside bags, tents or running engines or live equipment.

It's been a long time since I've found anything Fenix produces to have much, if any, appeal.  I hate the way they overcomplicate the UIs if their lights too.  Haven't been impressed by a Fenix in at least a couple of years now.
The first Noble Truth: life is suffering.  Only by accepting that fact can we transcend it.
