It is a shame nobody cared about the pocket tools.

We do need to try and get something together with at least a timeline or somthing :tu: I remember when they bought out a company a few years back and started making the tools from some of those patents and went from there but not sure about release dates on them  Somebody might be able to email LM about it cause surely they keep better records now with all of our new technological advances :D

There added

I think they are worthwhile to keep track of and we need to make sure the dates are correct and edit accordingly

I noticed in the timeline that the Sideclip is listed as starting in 1998. My Sideclip has 4 production dates; 08, 09, 10 and 11/97. Would it be safe to say (being a newbie) that production started in '97 and it then became available in '98 or was it actually available before '98?

That's correct, each half of each handle has a date code and all are from '97. 0897, 0997, 1097 and 1197.

I would like to know that as well :o Good spot Spence :tu: It could have been available late 97 from the looks of your tool or they started production late in the year to get a jump on getting them out first quarter of 98  Either way I think we may have to edit the timeline and the wiki a bit ;) :D

You are missing the MUT EOD on your list.  When did that model become available?  Thanks!

I may be wrong but it either came out the same year 2010 or the next year 2011  I am almost positive that they came out at the same time though

Can anyone make sure I am right about this or am I wrong  I also would like to know this for sure and make an edit in the timeline if need be :salute:

So, the Micra is on course to overtake the PST as the longest-produced Leatherman tool of all time. As of now, it ties that record of 21 years. As of next year, it overtakes it. Yep, the little Micra. And not even a plyers tool.

Wow. It must be selling well, even old school as it is.

Bring back the PST/PST II. !!!!

I think the plan was for the first generation of Squirts to replace it but that still didn't kill it off :o It outlived those and may very will outlive the second gen ones as well :like:

Only if they had used the old school bare stainless steel handles on the squirt with outside opening tools, that would be really sweet.  Totally hated the anodized aluminium on all the series.

Do we need to add the Heritage PST for 2018

Also I think the Charge+ and Wave+ need to be added

Anything anyone else can think of

I will wait a day or so and do the edit all at once in the first post :tu: That way if I have missed any we can get them added as well

Leatherman Multitool Family Tree
Reply #321 on: January 05, 2019, 07:30:40 PM
Hello all, for my first post on Leatherman Tools...

This may well have been done before, however if not, the following Family Tree may be of interest to some forum members. I've split it into inside- and outside-folding tools, and attempted to link related tools. Only the original model launched is shown as it would be too complex to list all variations. Non-folding tools, wearables and knives are not listed.

Kind regards, Max

Thanks rescue4500  :)

I think this could make a nice MTO poster with a bit of graphic design work?

Missing the pruners, so will have to do a Mk-II version of this info-graphic.

Great job on the family tree!
