I store them away, only because should you ever decide to sell your knives, they will be worth much more with their original boxes.

Only for my shelf-queen SAKs   . Daily beater boxes get chucked  :salute:.

As a general rule - no, I throw them away. There is a small number of mine that are still with boxes though

Where I buy my SAKs do not keep the boxes, they open the knives and display them instead. Therefore, none of my knives have boxes-except for the Spartan 2012 LE. My Micra had come in boxed, however, I found out the cleaning lady threw it away when I was at school.

I keep the older style slide open boxes because I reuse them, but the modern tiny boxes Vics come in, no I have no use for those.

I found the cover for a 1970's red swiss-army box.  It is worn and has lost some paper (the end flaps).  Free to anyone who wants to send me a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope.  There is just the red cover only, with some wear to the corners, condition is Fair-Good, no end flaps.  If you can fold together a white cardboard insides, it would work very well.  The white insides slides into the red rectangular box cover.  I am pretty certain this is from the late 1970's or from the early 1980's.   I know that some people like to try to keep their objects in original packaging and this is a time capsule piece of packaging.

Dimensions 1" x 0.5" x 3.25", exactly.

no, not with folders, MTs, nor flashlights so no SAK boxes for me. Only exception is if boxes are special (limited editions, have special materials or construction...) or I am sure I'm giving the thing away as a gift

Yes, I keep boxes and receipts and apparently have them long after the knife was lost:

Agreed.  Plus, I want to keep that particular box/receipt because it was my first Victorinox.  :tu:

I never buy new knives. I did buy one new one in a clamshell package, which I did keep. But otherwise I never had boxes to begin with.

Amici,
I also used to keep every SAK box, VIc grey, black and white, the Wenger mini reds, even the Swissbuck mini greens, etc.

But as time drew on, the boxes took up more room than the actual knives did! So one day I ditched about 90% of them and now only keep one or two of the old all red 1980's boxes,  with a grey slider or two.

Cheers,
Serge

Yes, if it's a box I keep it.   If it's a clamshell or blister pack, I cut it open and toss it.   Store receipts, too;.

Right question wrong topic, I just found out amazon is teaming up with the goodwill, if you keep any of your shipping boxes you can donate clothing and other stuff by putting them in the boxes and amazon will pay to have them shipped to the closest GW. I must say I have at least 30 of those boxes and probably a bunch of stuff I or we don't need.

But as for the sak boxes I just threw three of them away after cleaning up the other day.

This is exactly what I would do if I was buying new. If there were slider trays I'd probably stack those.
