How It Works
on: April 16, 2008, 02:27:34 AM
On How it Works on the Discovery Channel tonight, they showed how a flashlight is made.  I missed part of it, and I couldn't ID the "military flashlight" they were showing.

I like How it Works. It's a cool show. I would have liked to see a flashlight being made.

Does it have a 90 degrees head like the WWII military flashlights Def?

Naw, it looked more like one of the newer style tactical type lights like Surefire.

I wonder why they change the narrator from, smooth/clear/happy voice too cry/huh/whine?
and they changed the music. they should have changed the name to "How were they thinking?"

are you talking about the episode where they carve the light tube out of an aluminum block?

Yeah, they started with a solid aluminum tube then carved and carved and carved some more.

I hope they recycle all the aluminum they carve out!

I think it was LED- that was one of the parts I missed.

I missed the flashlight one but I would like to gush about the show. I loooove than damn show. No host, no excessive commentary just pure robotic production in action. It's hot.

Also; if anyone wants to find or see the episode Wiki lists the flashlights as being part of Season 8 Episode 3 Segment C (episode 94 in the series.)

I also think they profiled Case pocket knives in Season 10.

We need a petition for "How it's Made: Leatherman Tools" I would die.

At least half of the TV I watch, which isn't much, is on Discovery!

I think that was the same episode- I saw that one last night too.

Between Youtube and Bit Torrent, why would a computer savvy individual like yourself have to pay for any TV shows? :P

sssssh! They might be listening to this conversation...... it is a lot easier to just sit and turn the tv on and watch a show. I do however have almost a complete collection of Top Gear on my computer :D

Discovery is the best channel ever, and I see this morning on the Pirate Bay that Deadliest Catch is back for its fourth season, one of the best shows on it.
