Simple additon to the Leatherman sheath
on: April 26, 2013, 02:07:12 AM
i wanted something that i could pop on and off as needed and couldnt figure out how to add a belt clip so i fashioned this out of an unused lap top shoulder strap.  i cut the end off where the metal clip is and burned the end to seal the nylon, then i added a line 42 snap closure and put it though the upper and lower loops that would be used for horizontal carry and badda bing!  it works great with the added benefit of having a caribeener of sorts should i need one.  i hang keys off it and have even hung a AA torch off it as well quite comfortably.  simple fix and i was able to use the sheath that came with my wave so all in all im pretty happy with the way it came out.

Splendid yet simple solution :tu:

I was thinking of picking up one of those small kits myself, for a variety of reasons :)

not at all coming from a guy with 11 thumbs.  here is a great video of exactly how to do it
the setting tool is a must.

UPDATE if anyone was wondering; this sheath modification is still working out very nice.  the clip holds my work keys great, its spring loaded and i dont worry about them unattaching.  button snap is secure and i like that i can slide it about on my tool belt.  it pops on and off easily from pants belt to work belt them back on pants belt without fuss.

Seeing this idea inspired me to put a carabiner through one of the (unused) elastic side pockets on my nylon sheath to hang my work keyring from.  :)
