Looking for any Vic or Wenger SAK parts, new/old/broken/whatever

Hey all.

I've done a few half-assed SAK mods before, but I want to get into it a bit more seriously and build some proper ones with custom tools. However, since I'm just getting started and don't totally know what I'm doing, I don't have any parts to play with and don't really want to blow a few hundred bucks on half a dozen swisschamps or whatever. I'm wondering if anyone out there would be willing to give away any of their old junk or spare parts so I have something to bash on. I'm going to be chopping and carving half of these up into custom shapes, so I completely don't care about condition: worn, scratched, snapped, broken... anything is fine by me. I'm looking mainly for stuff in the Vic 84/91/93/111mm or Wenger 85mm range (in particular a Vic 84/91 combotool and its associated pie-slice spacer), but I won't turn down other sizes. The only requirement is that they have to be metal body pieces (tools, pivot pins, springs, etc). I'm not interested in magnifying lenses, LEDs, scales or scale accessories unless they're coming as part of a whole knife. Please don't send me a bag of snapped toothpicks -_-

Anyway, if you have stuff lying around that you don't care about or were going to throw out, send me a PM and I'll give you my address (I'm east coast USA). Since I'm just starting I don't have anything to trade, but I promise to at least share my final design(s) and take some good pictures :)

(Also: I'm not 100% clear if I should be posting to this board, "Tools Needed" or the SAK specific one. If I chose wrong, feel free to beat me over the head).

  • I'm an Adult?!?! When did that happen?
What I did when I was starting out was jump on eBay and put lowball bids on lots of auctions. Probably picked up about 1 in 10 but it gave me plenty of SAKrificial knives ::)

I also got hold of a lot of 20 "problem" knives off one of the TSA knife vendors. missing scale tools, cracked scales, worn or broken blades etc. They ended up costing me a few dollars each and I was able to build up about 8 "good" ones from the parts. Most of these went back on eBay and recovered my outlay. The rest of the parts got used as cheap learners for peening, polishing scratched blades, making custom builds etc etc.

Can't seem to edit my post anymore for some reason, but I forgot to mention that when I say "give away" I'm not expecting people to eat the cost of postage obviously.

eBay
TSA knife vendors.

Bleh, I hate dealing with ebay these days though, they've made things so difficult. And as a knife aficionado I want as little to do with the TSA as possible :)
