Powerlock Wire Stripper Notch

At least I'm guessing thats what it is.  I just got this powerlock and while looking it over I noticed the notch at the bottom of the screwdriver/bottle opener. None of my other 3 sogs have this notch.  Was this notch common at one time and they quit making them? Seems like it would be a handy tool.

It is a great idea, which is why Victorinox started doing that almost 50 years ago!



This Huntsman is from the 60's and you can clearly see the wire stripper notch in it.  As for when SOG instituted it or discontinued it, I couldn't say.

I have never seen that on any SOG.. Even my new 2.0 doesn't have it!

I just received my Powerlock that I got for $38 from sellout.woot. While going over this gorgeous tool I noticed this:


I had no idea this existed, does anyone else have this?

And since the picture doesn't show it, this is one of the "inbetween" SOGs, with the new plier head and gear covers, but with the old locks.

Weird, the 2.0 I just got doesn't have it, neither did my "old school" BO one.

I had my old as dirt BO power lock head replaced a while back and when they had it they replaced my bottle opener with one that has the stripper.  The old bottle opener I had was damage free not sure why they did it. I've never even used the stripper,  but I noticed the change as soon as I got it.

My old PL had it but I just recieved a 2.0 (from JimGuy ) and I didn't check.  I hope someone responds after me so this will show up in the reply section, that way I'll remember. otherwise not a chance
