folding wood saw/metal hack saw combo?
on: August 28, 2013, 06:14:41 AM
I am looking for a saw that takes both wood, metal, and possibly bone cutting blades, but also folds. I can find saws that take both wood and metal blades, and I can find folding saws (sven saw, for one)

Does anyone know of one that does all of the above? I'd like to get one for the vehicles.

Just a saw, or a multi-tool that has a folding saw? Surge (blade exchanger)?

I wonder how hard it would be to mod a blade exchanger for recipro saw blades...

Sounds like you could do with something like this ...

http://www.amazon.com/Trail-Blazer-SSW-18-Sawvivor-Collapsible/dp/B003ZKVC18/ref=pd_sim_lg_26

... which will take various blades. I have seen collapsible saws as buck saws and as triangular saws, and tend to prefer the bucksaw type as more of the blade is usable when cutting larger sections

Finally found what I was looking for. There were several one the market that got discontinued. However, I found exactly what I wanted in the Eka Viking saw, which comes in 17 and 21" versions. I ordered a 21" with hi-viz green handles, hope to receive soon. The price was about double what I planned to spend, so the quality is hopefully atleast 1.5 times better.

I do appreciate that it has no loose parts in the everyday fold/unfold procedure. Parts can only be lost when swapping out a worn out blade.

This thing is going to live in my truck. Campfires and junkyards are going to be cut apart.

Nice. Very expensive, but nice.

Their are handles for recip. saw blades . Milwaukee makes one that has several blades + a straight and curved knife blade .
