Fair price for Flair?
on: June 20, 2013, 08:58:13 PM
I like to stop in at ma and pa hardware stores when I travel, and today I found one with an old LM display case. On display is a Flair for $64.99 USD. New, and they say they have the box "somewhere".

Do you all think that is a good price? Probably be able to talk them down a bit too.

There's a Crunch as well, but it was priced above Amazon.

Found two Latshaw Pocket Wrenches as well.

I've seen new Flairs priced much higher than that on eBay but I haven't been following the prices lately. I know Stealth007 bought a couple recently so he might know better.

I searched for completed eBAy listings and they seem to go for $67-$81 in the last few months.

What Pocketwrench do they have? Stainless, chrome vanadium US made ones or the Taiwanese ones?

Thanks! Sounds like it is a reasonable deal then.

They had two Pocketwrenches in the Chrome Vanadium.

David was looking for some chrome vanadium ones. What were they selling for?

I was going to keep them to be honest. But I suppose I could part with one.

$5.99 plus tax USD

That's how my last two disappeared.. Given to friends.  :D

I need to keep one this time. If you want the other.. Or you and Dave want to draw straws or whatever... I'm fine with that.

Robert
Would you be willing to part with the store's location & name?  I lost my Flair and I'm going crazy not having one after all these years.
Thanks
Dan

I am sorry, but I picked up the Flair for myself. I'm quite fond of it as well for weekend carry.

If I come across another, I will happily pass the info along.

I don't know where I've been that I missed this thread at the time of original posting. I got all three of mine from different sellers on eBay for around $50 each if that helps.

I picked up three NIB Flairs today. I figured the folks here would want them, and if not I can put 'em on eBay I guess.

But before I do either..

It has been said above that they went recently on eBay for an average of $67-81 USD. In checking today, I am seeing only high prices. Very high. I think $175 for a NIB model was the lowest.

These are new in box. Boxes show some wear, but not bad at all. All instructions, sheath, and promo materials inside. They are perfect.

What do you think would be a fair price to offer to you guys plus shipping? I don't plan on gouging anybody, just make up for my trouble and trip (pretty far out of my way to get them thanks to a tip from a pal). I prefer these go to MT.org folks who will love them, and not just get put on eBay. So I'll offer them here first.

Thoughts? I was going to say $80 USD + shipping?

Also... folks have begged me for Latshaw Pocket Wrenches in Chrome Vanadium.. I got two more of those last week, also NIB. I was thinking that since the new SS ones are $19.95 USD, I'd sell these for $15 + shipping?

I have no idea how to choose who gets them though? I don't want it to be a fight. Maybe a lottery?

Anyway.. advice is appreciated. I want whoever on here that gets them to feel like they got a good deal.

Thanks!

I'd say that's a good, fair price on a NIB one. They sold for more than that recently.

I don't need a Chrome Vanadium PW2 anymore as I got one recently but good luck with the sales.

I'd be very happy to pay $80 + shipping for a NIB Flair, and it is very nice of you  :tu: to offer them to MTo members when you could sell them on ebay for much more.

Thanks, Greg!

MT.org is a good place with some good people, and it has always seemed right to me that things ought to find their way into the hands of people who will truly appreciate them, so...

I'll set one aside for you.  :multi:

The same address I assume?

Yes, MTo is a very special group indeed (and long may it continue that way).

And thank you very much  :tu:  Yes, same address ( via Matt B).  Please let me know how much you want for shipping (and is your PP addy the same ?  ku*.*.com)

If you ever need anything from Oz please let me know.  But the US seems to mainly where it is happening for MTs, the only MT I've ever seen that was cheaper in Oz was a LM Hybrid (pruner)

Not sure what you mean about the flat driver and corkscrew though. Do you have comparison pics so I can check?

I imagine $80 goes a long way toward Vegemite. Imagine the shipping!

I prefer a butter and Vegemite on white bread with the crusts off and quartered. Mmm..
