Some macro flower/bee pics from today

Here are some pics I snapped this morning.  It's not easy shooting macro handheld, especially when the wind is moving the flowers around.  Hope you enjoy.

Thanks! Haha, nope, didn't get stung. There were a couple of bigger bees that didn't like the sound of the lens focusing though, and they'd buzz around me.

Here's one I took many many years ago, I have no idea where the negative is but the datestamp on the back of the print is May 1985.
In fact this is a mobile phone photo of an 8x10 print so it is not the best quality. My Scanner no longer works now I have windoze 8.

The soft focus effect is intentional, it's not out of focus or blurred. This was done by the old trick of breathing on the lens.
In the full size print you can make out the individual hairs on the bee's body.

Thinking back this was probably taken with an old M42 screw mount Pentax SV or possibly a Minolta XG-M, can't quite remember when I traded up(?) to the Minolta.

That's a really nice shot!

Here are a few more I found.  I'm sure I have more on the PC, so I'll have a dig through them later.

Those are some great shots Derek!¡! I did some macro images of a stargazer lily a several of years ago. I used a device called macro bellows. The only thing that was a challenge is that when you attach a lens to the bellows I used, the lens can only be focused manually.

Macro,  my favorite type of photography.  I guess you could call me a smart phone photographer, though I wish I had a nice DSLR

Great shots Terry! I usually end up using manual focus myself as I find auto can hunt too much at times if the subject is moving.

I absolutely love my DSLR! Though they are expensive, and the lenses being the most expensive part, it's something you can build on as you can afford new lenses.
