That second one does not look like a Vic at all.  The knife blade looks like the wrong shape.  The corkscrew looks wrong.  And I've obviously never seen that fork tool on a Vic.

The first one might be a Vic that's been "re-scaled" but they they also ground down the tang and re-engraved it.  More likely just a decent copy of the blades.

I have seen three of these sell on eBay over the past couple days, with the last one bringing over $120.  I am relatively new to SAK's, but have never seen this logo before.  Also, there are no pics of the blades or tang stamps.

Is this a cheap knockoff in a vintage Victorinox box, or is this a legitimate SAK that I am just not familiar with?

Hi Saluki,

Welcome aboard!

That's an older Victorinox shield. Believe it was used for a few years in the mid-1940s, but not sure of the exact dates. Expect someone else will be along shortly with more info.

Hmmm.... Very interesting. I am also not familiar with that shield. Admittedly I have not done any research on them, but nome the less i have not seen that shield before. Thanks for the info Colo.  :tu: Learn something new every day.

My one with the Switzerland crossbow shield has a spear (not clip) small blade and reamer w/o sewing eye, so made between 1973 and 1985.

One of mine has a bail so its pre-1968. However neither has visible pins, so they're post-1961.

Thought I'd read someplace that that was a WWII era logo. The memory is obviously going down the tube.

Is Victorinox now working a deal with Richartz, or is someone trying to put a fast one?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/301095958330?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

http://www.ebay.com/itm/301095959236?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Richartz (and their sub-brand Ricardo) is a well reputed German knife maker which makes SAK-like pocket knives.
I think they eitehr got sold in a Victorinox store or someone put those labels there - The brands are not affiliated.

real or fake?

I'd say real on the tool, but the scales? They look like nylon, maybe some sort of Economy scales for a specific customer.

Have you seen shields like that before?

No I`ve never seen that cross before. Doesn`t look that good in my opinion. I`m also not sure if the watch case opener is in real that "round". He`s writing something about "watch case opener has been hand polished by me to remove the sharp edges" what ever that means...

Check this one out:

Obviously a bad replica, and marked as such... what amazes me it's the box.. branded and looks nicer than the original one...

I wonder if that Box is an original box.  The foam cut out does not look like it's the right size/shape for the fake knife.

China stamped cheap copy...I'm holding one just like it in my hand and it works ok to cut down sticky flystrips.....but that's about it.

Cool...mine stays in the flystrip box.....it's a "dedicated" user.  :D

Btw...I just used a 12" Mill bast... file to touch up the edge....cutting down flystrips is no job for a decent dull knife.

I don't see where it has Victorinox on the blade.

That's why he used quotes.  He's saying:

It's a "Victorinox" knife.
