My Bike Tool.
on: June 30, 2013, 07:19:52 PM
I bought an extra MUT when they first came out as part of my motorcycle kit. It has come in handy a few times.

Today, I took a nice little ride to Gross Cap which is on the western side of Sault Ste. Marie. I love riding out here as it is a very nice ride along country roads, and there is a highway component as well. At the end of the road is a cull de sac with a beautiful view of the St. Mary's river butting into Lake Superior.

Here is my baby, a 2009 Yamaha V-Star 1100 Classic decked out as a bagger.

And here is the MUT. The gloves are a bit of a good luck item for me. They survived, as I did, my 2010 motorcycle accident. Man, I still do miss my Triumph America at times.

The MUT enjoying the view.

And me and my MUT.

Oh once a motorcyclist....   :D

styx, the bit drivers are nice and long. The pliers are heavy duty. You can use it as a hammer. It has a nice strap cutter, and the carbon scraper is perfect to scratch those itches in hard to reach places.   :D

The Triumph does look nice Chako, but would I be right in guessing the V-Star gives a totally different riding experiance - I bet THAT engine is sooooo well balanced.............   S  M  O  O  T  H

Yes, a V-twin does give a different experience compared to the Parallel twin found in the America. The 1100 is 1063cc as opposed to the Triumphs 790cc, so there is more power on tap also.

The Triumph America was a lighter motorcycle with less power and was chain driven. It never did quite suite my tall frame, and I found the pegs at odds with my leg lenght. When some idiot ran me off the road back in 2010, I made sure that as soon as I could walk out of the hospital, I bought a larger motorcycle...but nothing too large. I find the 1100 fits me nicely. Yamaha no longer makes the V-Star 1100. The 1100 is not fuel injected, and is shaft driven. The newer 950 and 1300 have EFI and are belt driven. They also don't look as good as the 1100 Classic in my opinion.

As for smooth, yes it is that. I have a friend who owns a Harley Davidson. That motorcycle vibrates so much at idle it is funny to watch the side view mirrors do their dance. He does have a larger motor...but still...not as refined as the Yamaha.

Looks like you had fun that day Dan! Sadly, I won't be making it up to the Soo this summer, but your picture of the St Mary's makes me wish I was there right now. :)
