Those are nice. I like the BO tools and the lanyards. But orange scales would look even better IMO :)

Orange lanyards on camouflage handles. Mixed signals there?

Do you know what the coating is on these?  With a name like Black Ice, I'm hoping it is PVD or something else more exotic than black-oxide.

The Camo scales don't really fit the name, even with the black tools.

Those would be nice if it wasn't for the camo scales.  They just don't seem to fit the theme to me anyway.  I would think a solid color like red or black or orange as others mentioned would work better.

Black ice :think: sounds like it might be black chrome similar to the road tour Swiss tool spirit. I'd almost bet money on it ;)
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Yeah it would, but at least there's the orange lanyard to help make it visible I guess.  Doesn't go well with the camo though.  Really not sure what the motivation was for camo scales... :think:

About 2 years ago I was told in Ibach that there might be a special series with a poly-spectral coating, the one they used on the road tour spirit and on some of their watches. I guess that is it now. They made 20 prototypes about 2 1/2 years ago, 20 sentinels and 20 trekkers (the same as in the new edition). Here are some fotos that show the differences between the new poly-spec coating and a regular black coated and an uncoated blade (the poly-spec always in the middle).

I recently saw a Victorinox Hunter XT with black tools (including liners). And now this delicious coating. Don't you show some little mercy with us crazy fools?   :ahhh

Can this coating be done via DIY?

Sorry  ::)
I don`t know any specifics about this coating, except that it looks great. I`m really looking forward this edition especially because I missed out on the trekker prototype.
I was told that this coating would probably double the price of a regular knife, so I`m curious what they will cost.

Yes I think this is probably an example of the coating.  :drool:   :drink:
On their Black Ice watches they describe the coating as a silvered black PVD coating.

I might be interested in the black ice Classic but I won't pay much of a premium.  Otherwise I'll pass on this...

I`m not sure about worldwide but at least they will be available here in Germany. I just heard back from my local Vic dealer, it seems the knives are already sold out (for the dealers). Not really surprising considering the low numbers.
