Not impressed. Some of the most basic models, cheap painted plastic scales that do not quite match the series name, orange color plastic tipped tweezers and orange lanyards (really?) make these seem to me as a lame attempt to a Limited Edition series. And at these prices...

The "black ice" coating, reportedly borrowed from their watch division (if it's indeed the same thing) is not truly black, it's more some sort of gray that changes depending on light (and also how clean the surface is) from a very light gray, almost silver, to a moderate dark gray, but never black.

Also it looks that the dividers/liners, the ring and the backsprings are regular plain silver:

I wonder if those are the same as the Garant ones with a measurement scale.

I'm not sure about the camo design but I like the idea of black tools and orange tweezers

I generally don't like anything in camo, so these are a miss for me

If they made these orange alox instead of that ugly camo I'd be in for one.

+1 Orange instead of camo for the scales would look better and match the other orange bits.

Even better would be if there would be at least a Classic in alox, if not a Pioneer or Farmer, all of which are still current production and can be done in orange just fine.

Or chose a more special 91 mm, at least a Climber. How nice (at least to me) would be a Craftsman (more expensive but why not at these prices).

I would swap the scales with white ones, those would look great on that Spartan or Huntsman.

Yes, white scales would also look better than this camo.

Don't think that too many people will be willing to swap scales on brand new LE SAKs.

I've never experienced any black coating on a Vic.  Can anyone vouch one way or the other for its quality and durability?

I have the black coated spirit road tour edition. The black has no chips in it and has held up wonderful in my experience.

Black Ice models are here.... Classic and Spartan just arrived and the Trekker is on the way  :ahhh

The coating is not really black, it's more dark grey, similar to the Spirit Road Tour edition.

The spacer from Spartan and the liners from Classic are not coated...

Comparison from left. Alox Wilderness - Wenger Black out - Black Ice - regular Spartan
The Wenger Black out is darker.

Comparison with Spirit Road Tour Edition

Fantastic. Was it hard to find one? They don't seem to be available in the Netherlands (yet). I am very interested in the black coating but I would probably swap the scales.

I can't help but think the Black Ice name would be better served using SilverTech scales. Or White. Hell even Sapphire would make more sense. I hate camo. That being said, I want a black SwissChamp. I'll stick whatever scale I want on there later.

Orange scales are even harder to find than those black ice SAKs :)
