In the last picture it's clearly shows the "0" was punched with less pressure then the other numbers in "2013". Send it back!
The rest of it looks 100% up to sniff though!

And the million dollar question: do you approve it?

No, I don't.

Its far from perfect.

Let's just set a few guidelines here....

Pocket knives, swissarmy knives, pen knives etc etc to me are basically miniture works of art - to me anyway. I've mentioned before that I don't like knives. But the quality from miniture pocket knife is to me the beauty of the workmanship taken to create it.

The standard line of both Victorinox and Wenger was never bettered in my view - we are talking multi-bladed tools here.

To then set out to improve upon that, is really raising the bar.
This model, The Commemorative Damascus Explorer is a tribute by Victorinox to the late Carl Elsener.

Well, it needs to be really something in my eyes, and this aint it!!

The mechanical parts of this knife work flawlessly. Just as is expected from its cheaper cellidor sibling. But the scales......

I'm not about to launch into yet another tirade here. but it isn't right..the pictures speak a thousand words, a few of mine wont make any difference.

Even the outer cardboard box carries a different serial number to the knife within!!

I did consider briefly sorting this out to make it perfect. But I'll leave it be. Its going back in its case, back in its cardboard sleeve and then going to be put away for a while.

Personally, I would accept that knife.  These are not artisan pieces, they are small batch produced.  You and I have different levels of what is acceptable.   :-\

I have accepted it.
Its better than the one that was returned, thou I did prefer the blade pattern on the other one.

I'll give Victorinox credit, they really have tried to please me. And I acknowledge that and appreciate it too.
Yes, I am a perfectionist. I worked in a joiners shop for a short spell after working on sites for a few years. Even then I was dismayed at what was considered acceptable.
I've tried to be more accommadating and not be so picky, but it's hard, the faults jump out to me. That's just the way I am.

Please be aware that I'm not moaning here, I just expect things right!!! thats what I've paid for.
Not second best, or good enough...simply right!

My hiking apple peeler.

The more grit on the scales, the better the signature stands out. Look at that signature!  :salute:

The older, dirtier and more banged up, the better and blacker it starts to look. Gimme some Oak!
