Glad it arrived safely. And be careful when opening cans. ;)

Soooo, I haven't had any issues opening cans - three so far. It does it with no damage to the tool (besides some of the "BO" flaking off). Honestly, it does a better job than my PPP, because it has a sharpened edge as opposed to the PPP which only has a sharp point and tends to fold the metal resulting in a sawblade-shaped opening.

Maybe SOG has fixed the issue?

That's good to hear. :tu: WHat size cans did you use it on? Could you post some pics of the can opener opened so we can see if they moved it or changed something compared with the ones that had this issue? Thanks.

None of the cans were big - they were VanCamps baked beans cans and a soup can. I will try to get a pic or two later today, maybe tonight at the latest.

I don't believe they have changed the position of the opener - still right next to the blade. I am wondering if the shape of the implement has changed any. I know SOG developed specific tools for the powerduo, but the can opener is quite a bit bigger than the can opener on the PPP. It is a little awkward to get hooked to the can, but once I get on, it does it's job well.

Yeah, no problem.  :salute:

In regards to damaged scales/frame, my PowerDuo has no damage to it what so ever, out of the box. Neither the scales nor the toothpick or tweezers show any signs of rubbing when using the can opener (so far) as my tool makes no unwanted contact with the can I am attempting to open - only the can opener implement touches the can.

In regards to the gap between the scales and the frame, my tool does have a slight gap as pictured in the other thread. However, in no way does the scale feel insecure. In fact, the scales feel very solid.

In regards to the pin issue, my pin appears to be in the tool properly. It passes through all spacers that it is supposed to without sticking out anywhere. It does not stick out behind the blade, and it does not (appear to) stick out into the scale.

A few pics of the can opener. Taken with my phone, so please forgive the poor quality.
