Just two SAKs?  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

More on that in a minute though. First off, Happy Birthday to Tim and Nikola  :drink: Two fine chaps  :salute:
Again, many thanks to all concerned for yet another giveaway

Back to business ...  ;)

Just two .... very tricky! I supose it all depends on the criteria. Here are a few of my favourites that didn't make the grade for this post:

(Image removed from quote.)

  • Original Yeoman - Very close to being the "Urban" winner, and a regular friend that's called upon for light carry.
  • Original 1970's Outdoorsman with pruner and serrated blades - I like it that much I even managed to get a spare
  • 84mm Golfer - Forerunner to the 91mm Compact. On the very rare occasions I carry my KF4, it's the Golfer that accompanies it for scissors and beverage access equipment
  • Brushed Stainless Pocket Tool Chest - an excellent companion tool to a Gerber Dime and Preon Revo

I do like the standard red scales on these knives too, as they nearly always accompany a larger multitool, and the red scales calmly reassure any non-knife people around. It's nice to have a bit of bling around for special occasions though, and these are my pornographic poshies that are liable to get wheeled out ...

(Image removed from quote.)
  • Deluxe Cigar Cutter
  • Buffalo Horn Scaled Commander
  • Leather Clad "Coach" Climber
  • Buffalo Horn Scaled Huntsman

However, the SAK I have secured several of (albeit different variants) is the Wenger Traveller. This is the perfect size and shape for a SAK IMHO. The can opener is a very useful general purpuse diggie pokie scrapie thing, there's no redundant knife blade, the flat driver locks, the scissor spring is robust, the nail file is very handy (pardon the pun), and the corkscrew takes the excellent Vic Mini Driver as well as allowing me to consume El Vino Collapso when it arrives held captive by wood.

LESS WORDS - MORE PICS!!

(Image removed from quote.)
Wenger Traveller Variants:
  • Swissbuck Sidekick
  • Soft Touch 14
  • Alinghi Souvenhir
  • Classic 14 (Traveller)
  • Partially Serrated Traveller
  • Close Cousin - the Victorinox Climber Small
  • Wood 03
  • Evowood 14
  • Brushed Stainless Traveller
  • Metal 50

Of all these, all bar the Alinghi Souvenhir model get pocket time, and it's only a matter of time before the Alinghi comes out to play too. I think the one that I have the most affinity with however, is the brushed stainless version - it's like alox, but way way better  :D

(Image removed from quote.)

The only thing "missing" is a Phillips, and although the nail file will help in that respect to an extent, I prefer to carry this with another tool. For light carry that tool would oftem be an IDL T7  :)

Heading outdoors, or at least onto the outdoor theme - it's time to beef things up a bit  >:D

(Image removed from quote.)
Wenger Rangergrip 90

Here's a few comparison pics with it's older brother - the Swissgrip. This thing is a beast, and yet I still would accompany this with a smaller SAK such as a Wenger PTC/Evo 88 for "public" areas, PLUS despite being wider than the Swissgrip it actually has less tools - but it things went whoopsie daisy in the middle of nowhere, this is the SAK I'd want to have on me to deal with it.

Great saw - HUGE OHO plain edged blade with a lock that you don't have to put your fingers in the blades travel path to release, a can opener, file and moderate sized pliers. Everything I'd expect to need in the big outdoors, and nothing I wouldn't  :)

(Image removed from quote.)
(Image removed from quote.)
(Image removed from quote.)

So, my choices are the Wenger Brushed Stainless Traveller, the Wenger Rangergrip 90 ... and an IDL T7 photobombing for comparison with the Traveller  ;)

(Image removed from quote.)

Some very nice Wenger's you got there!  :salute: :salute:

 :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

You guys have no idea how much this means to me ...

Me and my family are going through some rough times these last few months, at one point it seemed as if the only luck we had was bad luck ...  I'm not somebody who can easily talk about his problems, because I always think that there are people who have things a lot worse, so I shouldn't complain.

But I can tell you this, the only things that kept me going these last few weeks were, first of all my wife and kids, and then you guys here, the fun topics, this great positive vibe you find here, the jokes and funny pokings to and from other members ...  And the knowledge that (thanks to my parents, because they're going with us and they're going to pay the bill) we can go to Germany for 5 days in August to try and get away from it all for a few days.

But now, to win this giveaway, I can't believe it, it almost has me in tears ... tears of joy for a change.

Seems like I will have some new goodies for my birthday (August 18) afterall, thanks to you guys .

So, big thank you to enki_ck and Tim for this awesome giveaway (and happy birthday to you guys ), you guys are the best.
And also, a big thank you to all the members here at MTO for making this the nicest place on the internet  :salute:.

P.S. please excuse any mistakes I typed, it's not often that I ramble out of joy  :D.

Congrats and enjoy the Cadet my man :tu:  I know I've been on the receiving and giving end of some of those pokes/jokes, and I've enjoyed it.  I'm glad this place is a positive place for you to come hang out, as it is for many, if not all of us here.  Oh, and thanks for winning as you've spared me the fun of finding a spot for the Cadet in my rotation ;)  Although I'd be happy to find a place for that Spirit RT

And I just noticed, your birthday is two days after mine, so congrats again fellow Leo :tu:

Rest is not idleness,

Yes, all in good fun, which is part of why I love this place.  Very cool people at every corner.  Ha, yeah it has been.  Now you've got some more material as I have to find a spot for my new Wenger EvoGrip 16 ;)
