My first fixed blade
on: July 30, 2013, 03:03:55 AM
I finally got a fixed blade! I've always loved the wilderness but never really felt too much of a need for anything more than a sak, mt, or folding knife. Anything these knives couldn't handle I usually used a hatchet for. But now my dad is moving and found a KA-BAR fixed blade while cleaning his basement. He has no need for it so he gave it to me. It was given to my dad by a friend of his in the military. It is in new condition except for a not family friendly word my dad (as a teenager) scratched into the back of the sheath. So I finally have a fixed blade. :)

And as it has been in my dad's wet basement for many years, I guess KA-BAR's claims of rust resistance are true.

I have to admit that the Ka-Bar always looked like a heavy beast from images I'd seen, but having finally gotten to play with one (Sparky415's) last year I was amazed at just how light and nimble it felt. :hatsoff:

They're a great knife John.

That is a pretty good find

no matter how frequent i see these military fighting knives I never get tired of them. I'm still wondering when I'll get my first one.
Cheers,

No pictures of the back to the sheath? But that's what I was most interested in! ::)
Got those frog legs.
