Well earned dislike for Taylor Tools here. You can feel, see, and hear the difference between a Taylor tool, and an old Schrade tool.

I've never handled a Taylor Tough Tool, but know what you're talking about based on my old and new Schrade Barlows.  Meanwhile, today at the store..... :)

I have 2 of the US made ones. Good tool, I like mine.
Last one came to me for $2.

Unless it was totally u/s that was a great bargain !

Was almost unused actually. I still use both my Schrade's on a regular basis.

Need I remind you all that Bob crushed a Taylor Era Tough Tool in his hand at SHOT a couple of years ago.

Def, didn't you also get one with the knife blade tip bent to fit the handle?

No, that wasn't me- I think it was also Bob.

Here is the photo from SHOT showing the silver crushed tool next to the original black one.  The handles are supposed to be the same width apart.  It may not look like much, but Bob really didn't put much of a squeeze on it to make it bend that far.

I definitely remember this when it came out and really wanting it. Does anyone know the similarities between this and the Bucktool?

Yeah, what a piece of poo. ::) Y'know that metal foil they used to (maybe still do) wrap sticks of chewing gum in? I swear that's the same material Taylor Cutlery makes the new Tough Tool out of. :P
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Funny, I thought it was the wax paper the foil was stuck to.  That thing really is a piece of smurf.

I can find something positive about pretty well any tool. I have always said that some of the cheapos have some neat innovations, and I've always found something good in every tool, so believe me when I say the new Scrade Tough Tool is crap.
