I picked up another little tourist one a couple of days ago for a few quid  ::)

I'll give you a tenner for it. :pok:

>:D

Actually I am after a mid sized Kukri so if you happen to stumble upon another one at a decent price and condition, let me know. :salute:

This thread reminds me of the 2 i had as a child/teen. A small one and a standard sized.

Havn´t seen them for decades, i wonder if they are still at my parents house somewhere.
Have fun.

Bye,
Michael

I disagree - it has it's own beauty in that it's simple and works really well. What's its history?

I wanted a camp kukri, but wanted a user and not tactical looking, and not too expensive.
I found this one on ebay from a seller in Thailand. It looked like it had been made by a bladesmith that made proper tools and not souvenirs, so I went for it.

I did actually have some trouble importing it, as the customs classified it as an illegal dagger. Luckily I managed to convince them that they where wrong, and that it is a camping tool.

:salute: You'd think that with the powers they have, customs officials would know a bit more about what it is they are trying to confiscate. Maybe they wanted it for themselves?
Thanks for the info. Lovely looking Kukri.

I sort og understand it. They probably get everything between heaven and earth though every day.  You cant expect everyone to be able to classify everything, but youd think they would have a second opinion from someone who know knives and tools, before sending out a notice of confiscation.

I could never understand the fascination with these knives but I'm glad you're here Zed.It would be a mighty dull world if everyone like the same type of knives.

Perhaps if I hang around this thread long enough,I may learn why people like these funny looking knives.LOL.

Thanks for that last pic, I was a bit worried I'm making mine too small, which is mostly determined by what size blade I can heat treat......that looks perfect! :tu:
