This is very sad to read and thank you Grant for sharing this with the MTo family.  While I have only read what you have written Jeff it seems we all leave a little bit of ourselves here in this cyber universe. By the number of post you contributed and friendships you have made its clear you will be fondly remembered by many here. As Grant mentioned many of us wont ever meet or get to shake each others hands but Jeff your extended family here at MTo will sadly miss you.  :salute:  Thank you for you contributions to MTo, blessings to you and to your family and all those that love you.

:call: hope to see you on the other side as im sure you are a super person.

I don't know you either, Jeff... But I have two close relatives with the same disease, so I maybe partly know what you and your relatives have to go through :((((( I'm really sorry :( I don't know what to say, just .... life is often very very unfair. On the other hand, you never know what will happen tomorrow.

All I can say is that it is not over yet and even the best doctors can make a wrong diagnosis. No goodbye from me; keep fighting and you may be around for longer than you think.

Jeff! I am new in the forum, but I know this is not any forum... it is a family and a great support community. We have never met or talked, but I just wanted to share my support to you in this difficult moment. Hugs!

It is difficult finding words to write that will not sound empty or trite, as I believe the last mile to be a lonely and hard road. So I can only say, as one human to another, good luck!

  • "Live long and ..useful."
Thank you for all the kind remarks, I do consider everyone here my friend.  I've always respected the culture here, the people, and the exposure to new ideas.

As for my condition.  3 years ago I found I had Synovial Sarcoma in my left forearm with metastatic tumors (dozens) to both lungs.  I've been through many different conventional
and targeted chemotherapies since.  I was on a new oral chemo regimen which was temporarily suspended due to an unexplained low grade fever.  I had a respiratory arrest while I was in the hospital and will be for a while.

The mets are attacking my lungs and I had to install catheters around each lung to drain the fluid between the lung and the chest wall.  So far about 3 liters from each side.  We are draining approximately once a week.

My prognosis is not good at all but I am not giving up and I am fighting every way I can and have been for years now.  I will keep you guys posted to the extent possible.

I find myself regretting that I didn't contribute content as often as I could have but please feel free to peruse my contributions if you like.  My basic philosophy is that all tools have merit and everyone has to find there own EDC.  I loved all the different choices people make in that respect.  I've always loved the collectors and admired the super-collectors.  I've become a collector myself after all.

This really stinks. Metastic cancer doesn't go away. I hope you concentrate on the quality of your life and make the best of what you have. You have my thoughts and sympathies.

and relating to this subject, here's  good book to read:

A Life Worth Living: A Doctor's Reflections on Illness in a High-Tech Era
http://www.amazon.com/books/dp/0374266662

it's a really good book and puts things in perspective. I wish it had been published when my dad was going through stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Things might have gone better for him.
