Holland is a region and former province located on the western coast of the Netherlands. The term Holland is also frequently used as a pars pro toto to refer to the whole of the country of the Netherlands. This usage is generally accepted, but some individuals, particularly from the other parts of the Netherlands, dislike the use of "Holland" as a substitute for "the Netherlands"

I did know that actually. I don't think the ones you get in NA are though?

and Massey Ferguson rules!

They're Agco's second brand, behind Fendt and above Valtra. ISTR they are moving to having Valtra engines and the higher spec ones have Fendt gearboxes.

I was driving a 7616 Dyna 6 earlier in the year and it was seriously comfortable. Silly gearbox, but very comfortable. Nothing like as awful as a McCormick I had a quick go in at the same time. Between range changes you had time to make a cup of tea, but then it would catapult you through the windscreen  :ahhh

So anyway, it's a shame the Les Stroud MT has a Wharncliffe blade. I'm not a great fan of them. Curious that is has the Micra style tweezers too.

I handle the importation of a half dozen or so John Deere tractors from The Netherlands every week, so my guess is that yes, we do get them here in North America.

Also Case, New Holland and occasionally Fendt, which strike me as some of the most beautiful tractors out there.

And, just for the fun of it, here's a nice JCB unit too.

I like tractors.  :D

I sort of own an MF135; they are really solid workhorses and ideal for use in smaller fields and especially for ploughing/rotivating between trees as they can usually fit between them and under branches. They are also good for terraced plots with trees which tend to be narrow. They are sort of legendary because of their versatility.

So let me get this straight..

The new Les Stroud multitool is made by a tractor company in Holland.

American products are not as energy efficient as Chinese tanks made in the Netherlands, which is not really Holland, but also is.

The Italians make really fast and sexy tractors that break down and have no place to put your "dinner bag", which I can only assume is a disturbing euphemism for scrotum.

Most of the MT.org users are former farmers.

The British don't make anything except tea.

I have a question: Are people from Holland referred to as Hollandaise?

No... Hollandaise is french, female gender, singular number, meaning a dutch woman  (No offense, bmot.)

You people crack me up. I don't know Les Stroud, only read a few things about him. This MT, I wouldn't put my money on it. Tractors on the other hand...  :tu:

I used to grow human cells in petri dishes, so I'm also a former farmer of sorts. So your statement seems accurate, except for the Brits, they make excellent comedies.

Ah, yes.. missed that, sorry. I also left out cheeses. The Brits make some excellent cheeses. Stilton comes to mind. Now you know why I've been EDCing a Flair. Dammed cheesy Brits.

So tea, comedies, and cheeses. That's it for the British.

Fendt, which strike me as some of the most beautiful tractors out there.

Yup :)
We have 3. One's blue, which is a bit odd.

Incidentally, at least some of the New Hollands are made in the UK.

I live in a terraced house with a small back yard in a town adjacent to Britain's 5th biggest city, and I'd much rather have a tractor or a JCB 4CX than a Les Stroud Multifail.

... and I have grown some veg in my back yard

... and have been involved in the manufacture of parts for aircraft, nuclear submarines, pharmaceutical processing machinery, petrochem and powerplant components, and many many machine tools  ;)

... but you can keep the Stilton   :-\

They're pretty awesome multi tools actually. A tractor might be in use all year doing loads of completely different things, where a harvester only pops out for a few weeks.
