Absolutely. :tu:

Excellent...I am thinking since this is a low budget outing and since it is an Offical Red Ryder Carbine I will use what would be an accessible target for a Young Man or Lady, a Paper Plate and I'm thinking 30 Feet or So.. Any Comments or Suggestions?

Given the rifle I'd not go out any further than 30 feet, not until they are happily hitting it anyway. :D  Give them a centre mark to aim at rather than just "anywhere on the plate" and then they can easily see how much better they are getting.  Plus it just gives them something to draw a bead on.  Also concentrate on getting good groups rather than nearest the centre, consistency is much better than the one lucky shot in the middle. :tu:

Sorry if I'm teaching my Granny to suck eggs. ;)

I had a Red Ryder as I kid,and have another one now

While the are very good fun, they arn't really a precision tool.If you get match grade BBs,and don't reuse them it'll help no end. If my memory serves me, Daisy recommend 15ft as being the ideal range.

Don't know if its my dodgy memory, but my old one had more upmf, and was more accurate

Yeah I've seen that one before, and although it does look cool, I'm not a fan of external power sources on airguns really :-\

Thanks for looking though :tu:

I've got the pistol version of the Backpacker....you need about five pumps to get up to sensible power, but each stoke becomes progressively harder. By the fifth pump, your in no state to take an accurate shot

I used to have a rack out the back stuffed with leakers  ::) However it was possible to fit upgraded components which improved reliability no end. Was also possible to increase the power a bit.

Had to do a bit of digging, cause I had forgotten which model I had, but now I'm pretty sure I had a Feinwerkbau 124, with Bushnell scope, damn fine rifle, maybe a little too fine for a teen I was when I bought it :D

Now I want to get one again, too bad it's out of production...

I would like to get a nice air rifle. Something that can take out small fuffy little creatures for hunting and just to punch paper. Even .22s are hard to find and 30.06 is get alittle expensive to send downrange. So is .303, 308 and 5.56.

I know the competition idea doesn't seem to have taken off, but I thought I'd post up some shooting from this afternoon anyway. :D

that's 6 shots at 25m with a spread of 11mm from edge to edge.  Trying out a different pellet to what I was using before and I am very happy with the results.

Sounds like you got a batch of bad ammo.....

That's pretty good shooting Gareth. I can remember selling the Concept when it first came out. It seemed
like a nice rifle, a good effort by Brocock  :tu:

Cheers Chris. :)  I've just moved over to Air Arms Diabolo Field from using JSB Exact RS and it's made a big difference, especially in consistency.  With my Weihrach 97 the JSB's are excellent, but not so much in the Brocock.:-\  However the AA Fields are far better, accurate enough for consistent hits on knock-down targets out to 45m.

A perfect example of having to find the right pellet for your rifle.

The JSB Exact RS are a very light weight pellet ( 7.3 grains) Gareth, maybe the Air Arms being heavier at about 8.4 grains suit the barrel better  You probably know the Air Arms pellets are made by JSB?  :)
Incidentally, when I shot FT I used to weigh my pellets and used JSB Exact which had an official weight of 8.44 grains. I had one tin where the weights varied from 7.3 to 8.7 grains  :o  :D

That was my thinking as well, that the extra weight might be better.  Kirky also suggested that the RS might be a touch undersized, though JSB don't give an exact size, so they could be 4.51, 4.52 or whatever.  Anyway, I ordered in the AA Fields in 4.52 and there is a suggestion that they might be a thicker fit into the magazine.  Hard to know for sure.

Yeah, I've been told that they are made by JSB and that they should be the same as the Exacts.  I do suspect though that they might come from different moulds.  Now hear me out; my JSB RS and the Falcon Acuracy Plus are made in the same place have the same stats, so should be the same pellet, right?  Well, no.  When I got some of the Falcons they were clear differences in the shape of the area between the head and the skirt.  None of this means they are any better or worse, of course. :)

Now I just need to have a close comparison between some JSB Exact Diabolo and my new AA Fields. ;)

Oh, and the JSB Exact RS are superb in my Weihrauch 97KT. 8)  Just not right for the Brocock.

I quite believe you Gareth. The world of pellets is a confusing one and you are quite right, it's a matter of finding what best suits your barrel  :)  Luckily you don't have a Theoben Rapid cos they can be really pellet fussy
