thanks. I was excited to see he still had the CT41.  everything cleaned up nicely and has a great snap.  the swisstools with the 98' plier head is great I like how they were smaller.

OZ

ok so I said I had a Japanese solid rivet PST on the way and was awaiting its arrival.  well I got it today along with a great G Shock ( go figure right? ).  I saw what appeared to be a Japanese PST a while back and it looked like there was some missing parts but pictures are hard to judge from. I say the guy today and picked it up and yes indeed 2 broken implements

well im not bummed at all as this is a rare bird and to have one is great in so far as to have a part of LM early days.  I really like it a lot with its missing feathers and all.  Pretty cool to see Japan stamped on the blade.  the search continues for one in better condition as well as others.

the Gshock is GW 700 BDJ and is pretty darn sweet.  the metal band is so comfy after I took out 5 full links.

got out to the fleamarket today and what an awesome find.

Its a DW 6200 from 1993 and its pretty rare and very rare in this condition i might add.  this came without a battery and like most Gshocks i find the price is usually very negotiable when this is the case.  my watch guy popped a new battery in and back to life she came.  what a seriously complicated chrono feature.  i just love the green and its asymmetrical bezel, it has 3 buttons on each side 2 of which have the green plastic cover.

pretty simple time and alarm function but again this is a serious chronometer at 1/1000 of a second. the resin throughout is remarkably in fantastic condition with only the keeper suffered a tear.

pretty cool watch and some might say its the one of the ugliest Gshocks but i don't share that sentiment.

can you believe its 20 years old? yeah i love the look myself and yes the price was silly because the sellers have no clue if the watches work when they sell without batteries.

thank you and it has held up very well.  im sure once the battery died the watch went into a drawer.

here's another one though not as rare as the previous one but no less neat in its features. its a data Memory that can store up to 25 sets of data each set including name (8 characters) and telephone number (12 digits).  my roomie picked it up while she was at the fleamarket looking for jewelry and other fun stuff.  she grabbed it for $5 so it was a must have plus its a GShock that was begging for a new life.

Interesting watches.  I've never had one or even looked at one but will be looking from here on in.  I'm finding that our flea market does not have much for multi tools and the watches I see aren't much.  Thanks for the rundown on the watches.

John.

thank you. mine is hit and miss as well but when I hit its great.  I like all kinds of watches and especially GShocks more so than most because of their ability to take a beating.  I have been getting very lucky and come across some great deals so I cannot say no to most any GShock.
If I had to pick one to buy as my sole watch id be hard pressed but with some time ( no pun ) Id narrow it down to work/play/evening out and end up with 3 probably.

keep your eyes open im sure one will pop up eventually.  I find that most people just set them aside once the battery runs out.  make sure to look at the straps as these can be hard or expensive to replace if you want the original.  the resin can get brittle and crack or tear and the case as well.  I also look to see if the seal/gasket is protruding out the case back as an indication someone has opened the watch.  I also check the screws as sometimes these are stripped out.

happy hunting

Aloha - thanks for the tips on evaluating the gshocks.  No point getting one if it costs too much to fix.

exactly right, I have a great watch guy that does all my battery replacements and we always replace the gasket while the watch is open.  now if the watch was a $200 master of G series then ok no problem or a limited series again no problem.  check the case back which will give your the module and model # so when deciding you can make an informed decision.  ive shown some pictures of the case back in this thread, the module will be in a box an the model will be next to that.  good luck and you will be surprised at how many are out there just without a battery waiting for a new life.

the guy had it under some cheap knives and I saw the clip peeking out and was like OH WOW!!!  my friend mean-while saw the squirt/Maglite/tin set and was already wheelin' and dealin' for it.

with the load of broken or flat out over priced MTs and SAKs its nice to find something a seller wishes to off load at fleabay auction prices. its about going regularly and building rapport with sellers and digging through all the stalls.

its quite fun going even when I don't find anything.  I have become quite the regular face at some stalls.  my friend goes a lot more than me and its fun her say " heeey what's up, I didn't see you last weekend". today she and a seller were talking like they were old friends, it's pretty cool.

she looks great now after 30 min soak in wd40 and 3 in 1 oil to get her joints moving easily.  reminded my roomie of the tin man in OZ after a quick oiling  ;)
