Maybe I shouldn't admit this, but I love the Wenger awl. It's awesome and incredible and versatile and oh my yes. I honestly get far more general use out of it than the Victorinox version.

The Flik almost worked for me. I got one when they first came out. Tried it in work, and soon found its limitations - the short stubby drivers.

If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

Wenger 16400 Zermatt is one of my favorite EDC sak's that no one else seems to know exists.

I also like my Leatherman Wingman and use it much more then I do my Wave. It has a good weight to it(not to heavy not to light), the clip is great, and I also like the spring-loaded pliers.

Gerber MP-400 was much more popular years ago then it is now but I use one everyday at my job working IT and there is just nothing out there that will work better for me. That was the main reason I stated coming to these forums to find something better.

Great choice with the MP400 IMO.  Adding the bit adaptor just makes it even better. :tu:

It seems Atwoods are very popular .... but not to use/carry  I can't actually think of anyone other than you that posts to say they've used/carried one. Gadget Guy perhaps?

I have four Atwoods I`ve carried and used alot. A Chigger, Gasbaby (4 hole), Keyton and a G5 Prybaby.    :)

I find the LM Fuse type works better than the Gerber one

Quite possibly it does, but I've never had the chance to try one so I'll have to take your word for it. :D

I never had much luck cutting zip ties with LM fuse/wave scissors the MP400 can cut through like butter and yet are not too long to accidentally nick any of the zip tied network cables.

what sort of size are you talking about? I couldn't cut through 6.4mm ones (that's the size we use most of) comfortably with my Wave scissors or SOG scissors and I'd love something pocketable to do so.

I would very much like to see a small pair of diagonal cutting pliers in a keychain-sized MT.  A really tiny pair of pliers has limited application, but a really tiny pair of wire cutters (that cut all the way to the tip) would be very handy for exactly the reason you state, among others.  LM could add one to the Squirt lineup and call it the DC4...

bring a few samples to the meet-up and we can give various scissors a test to see what works best for you.  Gerber's scissors do tend to be very good with cable ties.  As Jetbo said, I've cut those larger ties with my MP400 scissors and they worked fine.  Though I've only done it on occasion and not as a day-in-day-out thing.

I've seen one of them at a meet-up, I'm almost certain it was Sparky's.  Neat little tool IMO.

I wonder how a Micra or a Crosscut would do actually.

I keep a versadriver in my pack. I've never used it but I got it handy if the need arises.    :)

Can't a good cutting hook do the same job? I have the boker rescom, and find it can slice through anything like packaging, ties, etc. and comes in a very nice package.

I've not tried it, but I wonder how easy it would be to get a cutting hook in at a tightly done up cable tie?

I think that is a valid concern, and the reason why most existing MTs that include wire cutters aren't great for cable ties.  That is, they have the wire-cutting edges close to the pivot, so one has to work the whole jaw of the tool under the cable tie in order to get the cable tie into the wire-cutting portion of the jaws.  This might be fine for loose cable ties, but is a problem for tight ones.

There is definitely also an advantage for tools like wire-cutters and scissors in this application over knife blades and cutting hooks, since it is easier to execute a net-zero-force cut with the former than the latter.
