The ST 300 is the only Leatherman I have. This is really a great house/yard tool but for me, it miss a Robertson bit BADLY!!! and I tend to not carry it often because of that. I find the flatheads redundant and would love if they made it with an interchangeable bit driver instead(for the Robertson). Like the ones on the wave or surge, but inside an ''old school frame'' like the ST300. A pocket clip would be a nice addition also( yes I carry this beast in my right pocket at home!).

But if your not a Canadian like me, you should love the ST 300, really  ;)

One of the small bits on the ST300 will actually fit into a Robertson diagonally, in a pinch. Not an elegant solution by any means (and it'll mark up the end of the flathead,) but it works when you need it to.

go Rebar and add scissors

Even if the Rebar had a large bit driver it still can't hang with the big boys.

I don't get this love for the interchangeable bit driver .  OK guys I admit it, its because Wave doesn't suit my EDC.

If you have a 3D Phillips tool you can use the LM bit adapter kit.  Sure you have to carry it but then you have to carry the bits anyway.

Anybody worked out an elegant way of dangling the bit adapter from a keyring?

That is very cool. But a very expensive solution to dismantle a Wave/surge
Damn you guys are terrible...now I have to get this idea of modifying my ST300 out of my head :twak:

Am I high jacking this thread now??

I had the spare parts. As pingu said you could get one of these.

However I would recommend something like this. Cost under NZ$100.
I have used it almost every day for over a year now and had no issues.

I assume the wave of the OP is problematic, so maybe getting a decent/fixed one (not gritty) may change his mind.

I do not like the Wave much, but some members seem to love it.

It by far my favorite model.  Very capable while sized to allow for daily carry.  I still carry a fuse or a PST occasionally when I want to pocket carry instead of belt carry, but there is no comparison to the features and OHO of the Wave.  With the wave, bit kit and extender, and a Maglite LED Solitaire all in the pouch it packs quite a punch into a relatively small sheath.
