By the way, how come you have alox scales laying around?
Were they from knives that you scrapped for awls?  >:D
Yes, one set for one awl, but now I have 2 more to scrap for awls  One is definitely destined for my Swisschamp, and the other may be for my modded Camper, or I might make a Bushcrafter.  :ahhh
Choices choices...  :ahhh
So you're not using the opener layers?
Not if I make a Bushcrafter. Gotta find a 93mm saw spring first
By my count, if you do make a Bushcrafter, you'll end up with two sets of scales, two blades and two blade springs, and three complete opener layers, and two liners, extra.
More if you buy a farmer for the saw spring.

Are you going to make something with that?
All I'll be doing is opening up my Black Pioneer and/or my SI Farmer. Prolly even be able to repeen the existing pins. Sorted!
So you'll have a black pioneer with no awl... And an SI Bushcrafter?
Who knows what I'll end up with! I'd like to use the Black scales but the only 93mm saw and spring I have is on my SI Farmer which I am very fond of. Gotta make a tough decision.

I would appreciate some time and space while I meditate upon it.  :D

Just so you know, the nail polish doesn't seem to look as "sharp" as proper coloured alox, but I don't have any coloured alox to compare.

That could be due to the nail polish or the tissues that I was using..

Apart from the scales, I have a cap lifter and a can opener modded to be a small screwdriver. Once I have taken the bits apart for the awls I will have 2 blades, plus another 2 sets of openers. You interested in any of that?

You see, the one thing that my beloved Woodsman mod can-not do is open cans, due to the position of the can opener, which I can-not change.
So my options for EDC'ing a can opener:
-P 38. Not available and I don't really want one...
-Go without.  :ahhh
-Build a one layer SAK with just a bottle and can opener.  :D
I was going to do it in celidor with a Corkscrew, but I like the idea of a one layer alox with just the opener layer.  :D
So, if you have the appropriate bits and you don't need them, I was thinking about buying them..  :)

Hey, for those that did the nail polish trick, How’s it holding up?

Got some spare scales... Just figuring out how to beautify it a bit...

I haven't been carrying it, but I have no doubt in the ability of the polish to last a long time if it doesn't come in contact with any nail polish remover kind of stuff.
I think the spot of nail polish I applied on my nail lasted for a week of washing and using my hands.  :D

And wow, those scales definitely need some loving!  :ahhh

I don’t know, these were given to me (along with some other parts) by a friend in return for fixing his SAK... Must have came in contact with some corrosive agent...

It even corroded on the sides... might as well put on some black nail polish I guess...

Yes it was Mags, and you don't have to add pinstock.  :salute:
I have some 1/8 rod I can sand down easily, and I found a proper ball peen hammer at a car boot sale last saturday.
Though I wonder if you should send it.
