What is the next SAK you want to buy?
on: September 10, 2013, 03:27:54 AM
Im having a tough time deciding between an alox farmer or a 111mm variety with a saw as I dont own either a 111mm or an alox sak.  That or a larger Wenger with a saw.

I definitely would lean toward the Farmer, partly because it is simply awesome, and that is alox, but I also have a classic on my keychain, which covers the scissors and tweezers/toothpick that is lost on the alox scales. Explorer Plus or SwissChamp might beat it out for overall versatility, but the Farmer is just so sexy and covers most things that you'd need in a slim and light package.

My next Vic SAK purchase will probably be a Compact, Explorer Plus, or a backup Cybertool 29 or 34. (gotta put my white and yellow plus scales on something cool).

The next SAK I want to buy is a custom alox from Syph, but ain't got the cash.

What do I WANT to buy? A mint 1890 Vic Soldier's knife for under $100. Is it likely to happen? Nope.

A RangerGrip 90, but I'm hoping for a Wenger sale at the end of the year (The city I live in has a population of about 11k people and at least 3 Wenger Dealers who will switch to Vic).

A CyberTool, but I'm hoping for a new line with another tool combination. And I'm praying for an Alox version ;)

None for the time being. I feel delighted with all those I have, particularly after the Spirit S. I started buying telescope eyepieces again. I'm cured!!!

I have all I need to last me a lifetime probably. I would like to stock some more alox, 108mm Solos and some 111mm -both lines- however I keep  :twak: ing some sense into me, not just because of my low cash flow.

I'll admit that after reading the Vic Huntsman 30 Day Challenge I've been having an itch for a Vic Mountaineer or two

I desperately want a blue Pioneer. I saw one on fleabay for around $120 but that is too much to spend on one so I passed it up. Have not seen one since.  >:(

A few mods, but as far as stock models go...considering a Hunter:

Would have to switch the corkscrew with a phillips, though.

Get a Ranger 78 before they are gone, then get a farmer.  Then an alox classic and all your knife needs will be met for life.

ahhhhh,  say it aint so  :twak:

Pretty much  :) I've found what works for me, and I've actually got others that are technically surplus. I'm hanging on to them for now in case I try a mod at some point, but unless I stumble across something new (at least to me) that gives me something different, I'm all set  :D

I think I'm in this same situation.  I can't think of any I want.  Although I would get another Alox custom if I could afford it;)

You should grab a SI if you can, while you can.  The Climber will likely be around for the foreseeable future; the SI, not so much.
