Wenger 95mm professional + question
on: September 13, 2013, 01:04:33 PM

I just got this 1 71 01 Professional 95mm with one blade. On this forum there has been talk on the
introduction of this series, also some pictures and more.

So far i have 4 of them and this got 1982 or 82 stamped blade, i know some here at forum got knives with the new scales with year 79. Some Place at late 70s or early 80s the new scales or design came. Or is there any new info i have missed?

Look a the 82 stamp on picture, there is a field and it is also raised ?

Perfectly normal. I have this kind of slightly raised (or sometimes just contoured) area around the year number as well on several Wenger Professionals and Soldats/Standard Issues from the era.

I have two of the older versions with the nylon handles. One is marked '74' and the other '65'.

Need to correct a bit. I found several of mine on said bay. They appear from time to time, some old stock NIB, some used. They were called "Wenger Professional" or "Wenger Profi" but the ones I got were simply listed as Wenger Swiss Army Knives dated NN.

To add to what Marius was saying...

Don't believe the Professional series was ever imported into North America. Don't believe they're current production. The most recent one I have is dated 1995, with mid-1980s dates most common. Most of mine came from ebay. Believe a dealer in Switzerland, Sigsal, was selling a batch of them earlier this year on the bay.
