Here is something you don't tend to see all that often in this forum. I did a bit of cleaning in several little used drawers when I found this Royal Sealy Cleaver hidden at the bottom of one of the drawers.
Now this is a nice find, and I had forgotten that I had it to be truthful. In fact, I think I looked for it a few years ago to little effect. I didn't look in the right place. So this is a lost item that I knew I had at one time, but forgot about it over time.
I sort remember when my parents bought this many years ago at the local Consumer Distributing store. Now in Canada, Consumer Distributing was a big deal. They closed shop in the mid 90s though. However, my fondest memories was perusing their catalogues at home when I was a kid, drooling over the toy catalogues at Christmas time, etc. The main claim to fame with Consumer Distributing was that they tried to save money by eliminating show rooms with a warehouse approach and glossy coloured catalogues. I guess the catalogues were super expensive to publish in the end.
Anyways, this little flash from the past, which is still brand spanking new except for the box which shows a little wear, not only brought back some good childhood memories, but now will have a prominent place in my kitchen.
I can't remember when this was bought though...thinking early to mid 80s. Made in Japan also. That is always a good thing.
