What the hack is Metro doing?
on: September 28, 2013, 02:04:24 AM
This is just dumb. I had to.

What if this was made from a Wave, bushcraft tool? :)

I already had a gutted Blast from someone and I had some cheap Chinese tube band sets , why not combine them.

They are threaded thru and a ball bearing is inserted about 1/2" into the tubing.

Not if you flip it, I have smaller forks on some. It's all about technique :)

You could open it up a little and put something in the plier head, then secure that side with a zip tie or something.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Ok. So I shot I and with 1/4" Steel shot, this is surprisingly accurate.

This makes me wonder about a Wave/charge based one. Maybe use those detachable lanyard rings no one uses. They would have to be in there pretty securely, no way of coming out.

I love this whole thread so much. :D

I think this Blast might be your best option... the Wave doesn't seem like it would have quite the same grip when you're holding it in that position.

It's just plain dangerous. Those pliers which are the supporting point of your 'slingshot' are bound to snap once you put any kind of pressure on them. It could wind up catastrophic.  ::)

You're just so cheery aren't you.

I've shot it 50 times and no snap.

So oh snap, you're wrong.

Using the pliers as pliers put more stress on them than these rubber tubes.

Looks like A blast Metro.

I was looking at a Wave and one of the ways tubes could be attached is cutting a short length of brass tube and then mushroom it out to encapsulate the two sides.

Then I can thread the tube through the brass.

ok, this is crazy but I think I am going to use a Surge to make a proper one.

I am going to FINALLY make my Bushcraft Leatherman!

Using the tube method I mentioned in the other post, carefully mushrooming the tube from the inside to jam the two end caps in place and in the hollow, I'll be able to thread the tube through.

Inside, in place of tools, a short Ferro rod/Mag block. The Surge has a detachable saw which is good for striking the ferro rod.

When I have time....

Looks like a good giggle Eric  :D

Other crazy ideas for you ...   >:D

Could you have the bands attach with inserts like the clip-in lanyard attachment?

A custom handle instead of pliers would allow you to set the angle of the arms, and maybe even be a capsule affair for storage. This would let you keep a ferro rod in it, but be able to remove it for use on the knife (or whatever)

I do shoot a slingshot fairly regularly, and I don't think the clip in lanyard ring is up to the job, as with a powerful bandset getting 20 ft/lbs plus is fairly easy :)
