I wouldn't think a lanyard itself would be enough (far too thin), but with internal tools removed (just external tools remaining) and insert milled to full cavity width, and an extended slot on the insert so it reaches deeper into the handles for support ...  .... ? Who's going to need all those screwdrivers on a bushcraft tool anyway  :P

Maybe one arm of the tool could carry the ferro rod and the other a tube with a few bb´s? Inside foldout tools like the over-dimensioned Gerber lanyard rings and the rest of the cavity filled that way.

It´s fun watching you play!

While I appreciate the creative thinking that lead to this concept, I don't understand why anyone would need or want this. The tubing makes the MT awkward looking and awkward to use. In a recreational shooting situation, I'd prefer and have a proper slingshot. In an emergent situation, I'd rather just have the tubing and an MT. With both I can fashion a slingshot in all but the most extreme environments and still have the MT free of floppy tubing.

I'm not saying you owe anyone an explanation for your creative exploration. But to me this is a bit like installing a dish washer in a car. Sure, you can wash dishes and drive, but.. Do you ever need to?

Look out, Metro is about to put a dishwasher in a car!

seriously, I never ignore stupid ideas, you never know when a small piece of an unusual idea will help you think of something based off of that idea.  the engineering of weird projects might enlighten you to how to accomplish something else.

I do not think this is stupid, it is impracticable, unusual, and not something with mass appeal, but now that I have seen this, I know it is possible.  You never know when you will have to improvise a weapon or two.

If I can help, let me know

Relax, hoss. Constructive criticism of the concept with a statement of appreciation for the creativity does not equate to ruining anything. Do you simply prefer that nobody ever offer more than attaboys and oohs and ahs? I personally do not. Makes me feel like I am being patronized. If that's your deal though, I'll just avoid your posts. I say what's on my mind. I consider that being fair to folks.

Hey Metro

C'mon, chill a bit. I've crossed your path before and received the wrath of your tongue in doing so. (LM Genus).

No one here is denying you're not talented and your enthusiasm is highly infectious and entertaining. It's all great stuff. BUT I can't help but think your slacking here, talented you are!! so don't waste it.

You're obviously not scared to try new ideas and you obviously know your way around the machine shop..... Seriously metro your only limitation is your imagination.

Go for gold my friend and blow all our minds!!  :drink:

I personally think, people like you will plant the seed for the next concept of the multitool evolution.

On a light point, the LM Gat made me howl  I had visions of a cartoon take...a perfect circular hole in the teeth from rebound

 :salute:
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

What is going on here? This thread was created purely as a joke and an extension to a couple of threads on slingshots and archery. Everybody understood it as a joke for three pages and then out of a sudden  ... personal attacks and putdowns.

Not things MTO is famous for, more the opposite. :-\

Let's remember we're all friends here. :pok:

Now let's get back to modding stuff and making jokes, shall we?

The hilarity ensues!

I did a bit of experimenting today. I cut a length 3/16 tubing (the length of the OUTSIDE of the handle and then expanded one end. Then I cut a length of 7/32 tubing (the length of the INSIDE of the handle)  and slide it on the 3/16 tubing.

Then slide the whole telescope into the handle and then expanded the other side of the 3/16 tubing to lock it into place. The 7/32 tubing on the inside stabilizes and gives the 3/16 a place to expand and grip.

Then I peened the rest of the tube down and ground off the head.

Tadah! Open ended tubing!

I had an extra theraband silver band set made up so I threaded it through the new tubes with a bit of string and then use some other tubing to match stick into place.

I shot a bunch of BBs and 1/4" steel and I didn't need to flip the slingshot, it's actual a through the fork shot. Provided the grip and draw is even.

Folded up nicely.

My next task is to design a fold out implement that can accept a quick change tubing set.
