Yeah, you'd be hard pressed to cut those using dedicated cutters.  Cutting the scissors is beyond the capability of MTs, IMHO.

Question for Derekmac or any others who have lived with this mod for a while...how has it worked out long term? Have you found that the scissors slide front-to-back when using the MUT (particularly when hammering)?  Real close to pulling the trigger on a MUT and hearing that the scissors have worked out long term may be the final straw.  Thanks.

the sisscors as assescoire work great, i made a sisscor in stead of the awl but i don't like that.
because of the flippy-thingy you can scure it in place, yes it rattles a little but it's not irritating.
the sisscor is a bit small but usable, i would like it better when mounted to something..

They don't move at all, even when hammering.  When you look at the pic, the pin stops it from sliding back, and the tan piece stops it from sliding forward anymore.

Sharpen it and use it as an big awl, that's the only thing still missing!
Or, perhaps something to make changeble saws, that Ahold be great to.
I like a good metalsaw!..

I wonder why you couldn't use a Surge saw/file bit holder or maybe that's exactly what you are saying?

Well I decided that I wanted to have my tweezers, so I did the tweezers mod!

I used the blade on my TTi to make the marks where the material needed to be removed.

I used the blade and the file to give me the room I needed.

And the end result.  Now to figure out what to do next...

Does that plastic part just snap on/off?

I'm thinking about channeling out the other side to hold the long bit that got replaced by the scissors.  Anyone try that?

I believe there are two screws that you need to remove to take it off.  It's been awhile since I've done it though, and don't have my MUT on me right now.

If anyone knows where these screws are located; better yet, has pictures I'd be obliged.

I thought I'd find a detail mut take down video on youtube but no luck, just the usual self proclaimed pundit reviews.

The scissors now takes one of the places of one of the long bits.

bit holder on bottom plastic part only accomodates the short bit which is quite useless because it already has its holder

because it sticks out you can't use the pliers as is

layout, SOG PowerAssist with bit kit helped with the torx

hogging out the back with a dremel makes the long bit fit

Could J-Sews or anyone expound a bit on the dyeing process. Do you boil then add the RIT to the boiling water and if so, for how long? Sorry if this was a stupid question but I want to do this to my MUT and since this tool was gifted to me by the MTO membership, it is one of my most prized possessions and will be with me forever. Already ordered the Swiss scissors for that mod, now I just want to make sure I get the rest of the process right.
Thanks in advance.

I am a shooter so I like all the gun tools but without the scissor mod I wouldn't have a mut.

Thanks to tommywp and derekmac!

I put Swiss card Scissors, tweezers and blacked out the plastic on my MUT last night. Fun easy fun mod. I put a small amount of water in a old pan brought it to a boil added a liberal amount of dye I used powdered. After mixing the dye well I lowered the heat to low and put the parts in the dye for 20 min. Turned out great.
I think Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.

I wonder if anyone has dyed their plastic parts some wonky color.  I'm thinking maybe red but I wouldn't want it to turn out a dark or murky red.  You can't buy extras from LM or can you?  Maybe if you called them and told them you had scraped them up they would mail you some.
